Had to invest in tmtom original car lighter port charger. My tomtom sat navy were not charging even though they switched on with other chargers. My son suggested the original and it works perfectly. Takes any USB cable , I use magnetic ones. My car is very old too. Worth the extra to know device is charging on a long unfamiliar journey.

Just bought another two only want the leads as they don’t last very long (in different lorry everyday so move it alot). Thought it was the mount initially so bought a couple of them only to find it was the leads all the time they aren’t cheap. This all adds up when you buy something allegedly hi-end you expect better. However I have a hot glue gun and some araldite. I’m going to put the brand new lead in the mount, test it and when I know I have stable power I will hot glue it in place. Once cooled I’ll bury the cable end in situ in epoxy. I’ll rough the area up with emery beforehand to make sure of a good bond. Hopefully I’ll get more than a year out of it. I honestly wish I’d never bought a Tomtom. A friend bought the Garmen around the same time no issues at all.
