Much better than an automatic coffee machine
Easy to use
Michalis –
Excellent espresso maker
A premium coffee machine that is worth the money as it is capable of making very good espresso. Simple to use on its recommended settings whilst also giving you the options to adjust the dosage, grind, temperature & extraction time to suit your particular taste or type of coffee beans if you so wish.
I used to own & manage a small chain of cafés for 9 years utilising top end commercial coffee machines & this sage machine gets pretty close for a fraction of the cost.
I also love the new tamping system on the impress machine which means no spilled coffee grinds & the perfect tamping pressure.
Thoroughly recommended, and it looks great as well.

Very pretty, but is it all that?
As you would expect from Sage, this looks and feels like a quality piece of equipment. There’s a bit of faff to get it set up and simply following the quick start guide *will* get you up and running, but probably not with the results you want. It’s very easy to go from too coarse a grind with coffee coming out that’s not much more than light brown water, to the machine pumping water through too fine a grind for minutes with almost nothing coming out.
Once you have it setup to your liking and have adjusted the grind to get a decent extraction it does produce the goods. I was happier once I had adjusted how much coffee it produces each time to fill an entire espresso cup – the standard amount delivered is not much at all.
The hot water and steam delivery are quite messy and tend to spit and splash everywhere much more than normal, which means you need to wipe your nice machine down a lot. Which is annoying. Also, even with mugs or cups under all the spouts and orifices, the drip tray STILL fills up with water over the space of a few days….why? And more importantly how? I have no idea how the water gets in there, but there’s quite a lot. And it WILL overflow into the little storage area behind it and ruin wherever you have put in it. Also, for something with an RRP of close to £750 – could they not include a knock box for used coffee pucks? You really do need one.
The biggest issue I have apart from inconsistent results is the ‘auto tamping’. I don’t think it should be called that at all. It is auto measured tamping perhaps but you’ll be pulling the lever down yourself to make a puck – make no mistake. My previous machine made its own pucks and dropped them into an internal bin after – and cost half as much as this one.
In summary it’s very nice, but really not worth the money as it’s just an espresso machine with a few extra lights and features on it, none of which really add much. Even once set up properly the resulting coffee is very inconsistent. You can get a machine that is very close to being as good for probably 25% of the cost. Or something that will do much more for you for less money too. I will be returning this as it just does not do what I need it to, and I don’t need to pretend that I work at Starbucks every morning. I just want a decent coffee, in a reasonable time.

Quality coffee, thoughtful design – almost perfect
I’ve been really impressed with the Sage Barista Express Impress overall. It produces excellent coffee, has a solid build quality, and the semi-automatic features strike a great balance between control and convenience. The built-in tamper is a nice idea and makes the workflow smoother.
However, I’ve noticed a couple of small issues. First, the automatic bean grinder setting occasionally gets confused and dispenses an inconsistent amount — sometimes requiring a reset to fix. Second, the built-in tamper doesn’t always leave a smooth, level surface on the coffee puck, which can affect the shot quality slightly if you’re particular.
Despite these minor quirks, it’s still an excellent machine that I’d happily recommend to anyone looking to step up their home espresso game without going fully manual.

Great coffee machines
Have ordered a few things from thinkassemble.co.uk online and they have always arrived on time, this coffee machine has been on my list to buy for a while. So after reading many reviews telling me it’s a great coffee maker I took the plunge and purchased it. Well I’m certainly not disappointed as it make’s what I think is the best coffee I’ve ever made a home and it was very easy to set up and get going, all I need is it to last the test of time! I would definitely recommend the coffee machine, especially to those people who like to try different styles/types of coffee.

Great coffee machine in looks and results!
Great coffee machine which delivers good results and looks the part too! Needed a coffee machine which delivered great coffee and was easy to clean. A previous make of machine tended to get very wet inside the machine making it difficult to clean and having mouldy coffee granules dotted around – not so the sage which to date has been easy to clean as it is all external to the coffee mechanics 😀👍

The perfect coffee
A great coffee machine, the automatic tamper is amazing, there is a lot less mess when tamping, and the new technology works out just the right amount for a perfect coffee.
I would highly recommend this beauty.

Coffee
It makes coffee

Ok machine
The machine makes coffee, it grounds it perfectly fine so basic wise you can certainly do but you can also buy a machine for a fifth of the price that does the same. It has little to no sensors installed – water low – make sure you check, coffee beans low- make sure you check, steamer has no auto stop so if not experienced it will burn your milk. For the price you can get Delonghi or something else that will have much more functionality and items with it. It’s a basic coffee machine that’s kinda it.

Mollie Marie –
Fabulous coffee machine
This was an upgrade from a much smaller machine, and I was a little concerned that this machine would be too complicated. How wrong I was! The setting up video was so simple to follow and we were soon making fabulous coffee like pros. We are loving it.
JH96 –
Amazing machine!
Great coffee machine at a great price!

Fantastic coffee
Took a little time to get used to using this but great coffee when you do, I still have not mastered getting the milk frother The only thing I will say is that make sure you pull down the temperer to the bottom. When I tried it for the first time I was afraid of breaking it as there is a little resistances so just keep going till it lights up.

Don’t bother unless you have a huge space to fill
Bought this as it was on offer through thinkassemble.co.uk, huge bulky piece of kit which sat like a tardis on my counter top. I didn’t use it, packed it all back in the box and promptly returned.

He’s a happy bunny!
My husband says even better coffee than his much loved Sage grinder and separate Sage The Duo Temp Pro Expresso in regular use since 2015 and both still going strong!
