I was replacing an Alpine unit so had a Connect2 aftermarket integration kit installed and figured it wouldn’t be too hard to swap things. I would definitely recommend getting this done by a professional if you are replacing the original radio in your vehicle as it is not a simple plug and play job, you will need to cut quite a few wires to fit this unit. One thing that was not clear (and the main reason for posting this review) was how to get the steering wheel controls to work. There is no option in the menu for this and on some forums people had given up suggesting this is not supported on this unit. That is not the case, having set dip switch 1 to it’s on position on the Connect2 unit and replaced the Alpine lead I had with a pioneer specific lead on the Connect2 unit (and turning the radio on and off a few times) the steering wheel controls are now working as expected. There is still no option in the settings menu but it’s working. Android Auto and Apple Car play both work as you would expect giving you navigation and audio streaming (which can be controlled from the steering wheel controls) and the sound quality is good.

Fitted to an EP3 Civic Type R, looks OE+. Note, best to fit with bracket adaptors not the pre-fitted cage, or you may loose skin and patience (on an EP3). Also bear in mind Android Auto needs a parking brake ‘fix’ (ground to wire) in order to use.- Screen quality high, v.touch sensitive in warm and cold.- Mic quality great (fitted in gap between steering column and instrument cluster)- Easy to use, fast menu response.V.highly recommended!

Good unit and good value, the second I’ve fitted in two different cars. Excellent as an all in one solution where you need DAB, Bluetooth, Phone and Sat Nav (via Google Maps or Waze). Quality sound and build as you’d expect from Pioneer.Quite easy to fit but software not exactly logical to use so it takes some familiarisation. The lack of knobs & dials makes it tricky to turn On/Off and adjust the volume until you get the hang of where to go. And, the remote control is VERY directional and needs to be pointed precisely at the unit or it won’t work. Which is a shame as I wanted to use it as a workaround for the hard to use volume controls.Overall a good quality unit at a sensible price.

My only concern after reading reviews is the glare and visibility. If you angle it up, towards the sky, guess what:you can’t see a thing due to glare!Angle it straight and it’s fine.A little common sense goes a long way!Great product, highly recommended

I would have expected better from a pig brand like pioneer.User interface is ok but it would have been nice to make it more simple. The desktop is good and the function is also good however I have been experience issues with myn stereo randomly reboots or resets takes about 5mins for the screen to return which would be a issue if I’m relying on map from CarPlay in a unknown location, the fan is getting worst of time it was ok when it fitted it but now it sounds like it rubbing and temperature has nothing to do with this. Excessive glare the screen is very reflective and can be an issue if the sun is behind or to the side of the car.Reversing camera there is about a 2min delay which kinda makes its a pointless having a reversing camera if only the response was quicker.I must stress the user interact is good it’s better than the android crap from china and it but it would of been nice to be able to turn off options

My older Pioneer unit went pop so I had to research a replacement. I realized on the older unit that I didn’t use the in-built SAT/NAV except to help in setting my cruise control, as Google Maps doesn’t display the current vehicle speed when running Android Auto. This new Pioneer unit is perfect for me as I now use Sygic on my Samsung Phone which works without an Internet connection as needed for Waze. The sound and graphics quality are great and the screen is fully touch sensitive without any buttons. As I already had the Pioneer wiring loom and compatible steering wheel control interface, this unit was really a no-brainer, and was actually a third of the cost of my previous Pioneer unit!

Bought this for my son’s car (aged 19 and 2008 fiesta) and he loves it! Even said it is better than his mates car stereo which is a much newer vehicle . Like the fact it can be used with Apple or Android and when plugging in your phone, the screen becomes the phone and is brilliant. Definitely recommend
