Absolutely worth it! We have been using this regularly and would recommend easy to use and clean. Looks lovely so no need to hide it away. We have used fizzy soft drinks and juices. Still experimenting, always exited trying new combos.

I’ve had it a couple of weeks now and used it a handful of times. It produces great quality slush and frozen drinks pretty quickly but definitely pay attention to the whole “requires sugar or alcohol to work” thing. If you have too little sugar it will start to solidify around the cylinder and moan at you until you add sugar or alcohol. Don’t go crazy with the alcohol or it obviously won’t freeze at all.
Note for diabetics: Nearly everything I see online says sweeteners don’t work but Ninja includes in their guidelines that a specific sugar alternative does. It’s called Erythritol. It’s pretty cheap as well.
You really don’t have to follow recipes at all. I just chuck whatever sounds good in it and out comes a fantastic slushie. So far I have yet to make a mix I didn’t like! Favorite so far: blueberry, mango and Malibu rum slushie. Make sure you blend up the fruit first though as the container is designed to prevent you putting anything but liquid in. Chunks will not go in.
I bought it for the summer as I don’t really handle the heat well these days and it’s been brilliant. I tend to make super cold slush and then eat it with a spoon. The dog loves it too in the heat – frozen fruit-only slushies help cool him down too.
The only thing that’s a bit of a downside is that it’s not that easy to clean if you’re using fruit or other sticky ingredients. It has a rinse cycle where you fill it with water and the chiller stays off, so it just sloshes about and then you dispense it. It does a reasonable job but you still have to properly clean it. There are areas in the main container that are tricky to fully clean. It’s not impossible but given that you need to do it after every batch you make, it gets tiring. And once the main container is taken off for cleaning, it’s tricky to clean around the chilling cylinder as there’s not much space below it. I have skinny fingers and I struggle a little. I think this will only really be an issue with mixes containing fruit pulp. If you’re making frozen cocktails, it’s a breeze to clean. The alcohol probably helps.
Overall very pleased. Makes amazing drinks but cleaning can be a pain with fruit.
One final note: there’s a warning in the user guide that says Ninja will not repair the power cord if it is damaged and you should dispose of the entire machine. For a device this expensive, that’s really poor. So just be very careful not to damage it as it – rather stupidly – cannot be replaced. Why they didn’t use a replaceable kettle plug is a mystery.
