Make sure you change your “Find your offline devices” setting to “With network in all areas” instead of the default “With network in high-traffic areas only” in your Android phone’s Google account settingsThere have been at least two firmware updates since I bought mine, the first broke the battery (it would display low or critically low battery level, something many reviews complained about) but then the following version fixed it, along with some new features. So do make sure you install the Moto Tag app which is the only way to install firmware updates. That aside, I think it was a brilliant idea by Motorola to make these the exact same size as the Apple AirTag – there is a plethora of accessories available for them from launch. I like the Chipollo form factor more, with the included keychain hole, but I opted for the Moto Tag because of the plethora of existing accessories and the UWB functionality.I don’t yet have a UWB compatible smartphone, but I imagine most smartphones will include the chip soon, so it’s a nice future-proof feature.I tested three of these tags in a recent international trip. They went through airports, busy urban areas and occasionally more remote areas, all while my phone’s bluetooth was off. They work well and I was able to track the location of my keys and luggage as I traveled. The location would eventually update but it was not in real time. Some reviewers have unrealistic expectations about this – it will only update location at various intervals, depending on what Android phones are in its vicinity which have Find Hub enabled (not all do).To my surprise, Google Home speakers also help locate the tags using their own bluetooth; the app will report “Your tag is near your Google Home speaker”, useful to work out if you got home with your keys or you forgot them at the pub. When close enough to the tag you can enable the ringer to help locate them or use UWB.I am very happy with my purchase 🙂

This is at the moment the nicest looking android tracker you can currently buy.It was relatively easy to setup. It has the exact same dimensions as a Apple airtags. One perk to this is you can use airtag cases with the Moto tag.It has ultra wideband like apple airtags so if you have a phone with a ultra wideband chip it should work (When Google adds the feature to find my)HoweverI Had some issues setting up.Once I paird it with my phone it refused to connect properly however once I rebooted my phone and gave the tag a firmware update via the Moto tag app it worked perfectly. What I like about it:The astheticsThe built qualityIt works with airtag casesIt has a ultra wideband chipWhat I don’t like about it:You have to use the Moto tag app to update it.It comes with a super cheap button battery that is smaller than the standard button battery.

Poor enough for Ireland anyways does not really operate if our of Bluetooth range. The Bluetooth is really low range. Also it’s very low in terms of volume

Motorola did their homework with the Moto Tag. This isn’t just a basic Bluetooth tracker; it’s a fully-specced device that is future-proof.The combination of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for wide-area tracking via the massive Google network, and the included Ultra-Wideband (UWB) chip for close-range precision, makes this a clear leader in the Android space. The IP67 water/dust resistance means it’s good to go anywhere.Setup was simple (Fast Pair), and the added functionality of the button to ring my phone or act as a remote camera shutter is unexpectedly useful. If you have a UWB-enabled phone (I’m using Pixel), you are ready for the next generation of finding. No hesitation in recommending this product.

Works well, integrates with googles find my device, but seems to eat batteries. I put one in my suitcase in October and I travel weekly for work. I’ve been through 3x Duracell 2032s and last week it said it had low battery again. The one in my car has been through 2x batteries and wants a third in the same timeframe.

Finalmente Moto Tag
