Good quality floor; bad quality ladder/installatio
We had a survey prior to put the order. Surveyor suggested that expected area would be 13.5 square meter. We need to buy 10 square meter from thinkassemble.co.uk and 3.5 square meter from the installer. They said they will charge me same price as thinkassemble.co.uk. Extra cost for 3.5 square metre quotation was £210. I had a laser beam measuring tape (cost £20-25) which I used to measure the area and it shows less than 10 square metre. When I said that to the surveyor, he said it will not be enough for my area. I insisted to go ahead with 10 square meter. On the day, the installer said to me that installation area is actually less than 9 square metre as it is raised. It’s a shame that surveyor did not know that. Basically, company wanted to make money without installing 3.5 square meter.
When I was looking for ladder in their website, information of the quality of the ladder is not clear. It does not also say which actual product they will offer. After installation, I realised that the ladder they installed is only £129 in another website and the company charged me £320 for the product and installation, which I felt was rip off. The quality of the ladder is not great and is not comfortable to use. I would have bought more expensive one with installation from somewhere else if I knew.
Quality of the installation:
Installer told me that the space on the Attic is not straight, hence he had to leave lots of gap on the edge. Area after installation was less than 9 square meter which means he had more than 1 square meter floor tiles left which could have been used to cover those gaps. Installation is quite noisy and really not good quality. The installer took away all the left over tiles which they might use in the next installation to charge people extra.
Summary: Measure the area by yourself using a laser beam measuring instrument taking into consideration of raised floor over your insulation and order what you need from thinkassemble.co.uk. They will install it. They only come to do the survey so that they can sell things on you.
thinkassemble.co.uk: It’s a shame that thinkassemble.co.uk didn’t leave the option of buying ladder from them. I trust thinkassemble.co.uk, hence I trusted this installer. I clearly made a mistake this time trusting thinkassemble.co.uk.
