Beautiful sideboard – beware of delivery issues!
The Gallery Highgrove large sideboard is a really beautiful and very spacious piece of furniture. The pictures online present an accurate representation of the colour and grain of the wood. We are really pleased with the high quality and look of this piece of furniture.
The only negative was the method of delivery. The sideboard was delivered direct from Gallery and not by thinkassemble.co.uk. The first problem was that we received a text at 6:36am to advise us that they would be delivering the sideboard between 6:30am and 8:30am that morning! We do not take our phones to our bedroom and consequently missed the delivery. I expected to be notified at least the evening before of when to expect delivery within a few hours time frame.
When I eventually took delivery of the sideboard – six days later – the two man delivery team ignored both my written and verbal instructions to drive their vehicle to the rear of our property. They managed to gradually carry it, with several stops to rest, round to the back of the house but were not happy putting it just inside our door, totally refusing to move it five feet into the next room. They, understandably, explained that thinkassemble.co.uk sells this item at a particularly lower price than other retailers (I checked and this is true) and therefore delivery is to the exterior of the property only as they are not paid an £80 white glove fee.
Be warned, the sideboard weighs over 12 stones (76 kg) and had to stay in an upright position literally just inside the doorway for five hours until my husband, son and daughter returned home from work to unpack and move it into the dining room. I just wish that thinkassemble.co.uk had made clear just how heavy and difficult the sideboard is to move and perhaps make an optional white glove fee available on their website.
