    Log Cabin
Excellent quality and easy to install

  3. Kudzi

Good product but could be perfect
Good log cabin whichisoro looks great in the back yard.

    Pros:
    Good insulation
Plenty of glazing for natural light
Nice design with a very natural woody scent
Installation is amazing and took only 2.5 hours with their fitters so would recommend.

    Cons:
Glass is not reinforced which would be nice for something going in the back garden
Rood only comes in felt and it would be nice to have a tile option which is more versatile.
Hinges in door and window are screwed into wood work with no reinforcement so these can come off in bad window or if someone pushes the door too far.

    Overall:
Great addition to the garden and is excellent value for money.

    Great quality product and service
A good experience from beginning to end. This is a high quality product at a very competitive price. We were kept informed throughout any questions were answered promptly. All agreed dates were met from delivery, direct from Forest Garden by a very personable guy who was courteous and put the product exactly were we wanted it prior to installation. We were contacted later on the delivery day to ask if we were happy to have it installed the following day, we agreed. Pawel the installation guy was amazing, he arrived at 7 a.m. as agreed and worked through until about 5:30 p.m. doing an excellent job, very friendly and able to offer advice and suggestions. We would highly recommend this product and installation service.

    Fantastic Quality Cabin
Fantastic well made cabin with excellent quality fixtures & fittings. Definitely needs a good strong level base to sit on. As long as you follow the full instructions supplied it comes together easily (we did have a Carpenter to help with the installation)
Fast, efficient delivery by a very pleasant gentleman who kept us update throughout the delivery timings. Overall we are very satisfied with our purchase

    Forest Garden Melbury Summerhouse
Product delivered very well packaged. Construction is very easy with the pieces simply slotting into each other and provides a very solid construction. Forest provide detailed instructions and information. Windows and doors fitted without the need for any adjustment. My only issue is that Forrest recommend treating with 2different products and a total of 5 coats which takes a lot of painting. It would have been advantageous if at least a couple of coats had been applied at the factory. Overall a very well constructed and solid summerhouse would recommend 100% and good value

    Impressed
Bought the log cabin from thinkassemble.co.uk after been let down by another company.

Delivery was on time and the driver was even able to give a few tips.

Unpacking was pretty straight forward and everything that you needed 1st was at the top

Instructions pretty straight forward my only recommendation is that they should clearly put what level windows go in.

We received the cabin at 10am Monday and by 14:00 Tuesday it was built and water tight. That was just me and my wife working on it.

Overall I am very impressed by the quality of the product and the speed in which it was delivered

    Quality Product, thinkassemble.co.uk Value!
Pros: Professionally delivered, Well packaged, Top quality design and features.
Really impressed with the delivery drivers attitude and the effort made to pack the unit efficiently saving on space and risk of damage. We organised the components and it took two of us one day to assemble. Once up the cabin is extremely sturdy and the windows and doors are second to none for design or operation.

    Cons: Instructions, Roof Felt.
The instructions were too generic and didn’t really lead you through the build. Put them aside and concentrate on the profile plans and it is quite straight forward. Information on preservation and recommended treatments would also be useful. For such a quality product I felt (excuse the pun) that the roofing felt was not of an equal quality to the cabin. Bin the paper thin shed felt and either install felt shingles or do as I did and use some of the money saved on installation for getting a roofer in to fit a multi layered mineral felt system that will be good for 25 plus years.

This cabin sells for up to £4000 uninstalled at other suppliers, you can’t beat thinkassemble.co.uk Value!

Lot of money – I’m not convinced it’s worth it.
Shed is leaking quite a bit, lock on door dodgy and I think is going to fail quite soon. Not great considering the amount of money I paid. Also dimensions advertised are of roof, not actual internal space/ floor size. Do the installation yourself, it will be better done, and you can add extra waterproofing ( or at least make sure the felt it put down properly)….

    Melbury Log Cabin
Ordered on the 14/3/22 delivered 14/4/22 installed 28/4/22
Delighted with the log cabin. Easy process from order to installation which I recommend paying for unless you’re really good and this type of thing. Took the two people all day to install. They did a great job and very tidy. I had a concrete slab installed prior to installation. Prices have gone up on these as has everything else but compared to other suppliers the price was competitive. Having Electrics installed next week. I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a log cabin.

Quality cabin with all the specs
Amazing cabin. Searched far and wide for a cabin of this spec and couldn’t find one that had evrything I wanted it for. Built it across a couple of weekends but was easy enough. The instructions weren’t particularly clear but we watched some YouTube videos that helped us out. The actually quality is great. I would say that I found the lock and handle wasn’t of the same quality but nonetheless all was great. Delivery too was seamless with very friendly forest employees. Would 1000% recommend to anyone looking for a cabin

    Forest Garden Melbury Log Cabin
We purchased the Forest Garden Melbury Log Cabin in November last year and are really impressed with the quality of the cabin given the price. The wood supplied was well manufactured which enabled us to build the cabin fairly easily in a few days. However, this was hampered by shockingly bad installation instructions and issues with the delivery, (caused by lack of communication from Forest Garden) which resulted in the pallets being split and the wood mixed. If it hadn’t been for my husband being an ex builder the cabin would still be in bits on the lawn! The cabin looks amazing and is a perfect size for crafting and relaxing. It has taken a while and a lot more money to stain the wood, both inside and out, but it has been well worth the effort.

    Great summerhouse
I’ve had two Forest Garden summerhouses in recent years, and both are great. Good value and quality, and very robust. Delivery driver was very accommodating and the installers reliable and efficient. Essential to have a good, strong and flat base though (I went for concrete, which needs around week to try, ideally). The lead time can be quite long (longer than expected on each occasion) but I guess that’s down to availability and the time of year. Well worth the wait though. Love hanging out in them. No regrets, would buy again.

Melbury Log Cabin – Absolutely Awesome!!
This log cabin is awesome!! Search the internet and you will see some cabin retailers selling this same model for nearly £4K but with an inferior spec (no double glazing and thinner logs). The thinkassemble.co.uk sale price of £2350 was too good an opportunity to miss.
The cabin was gently dropped on my driveway from the back of a lorry using a crane. Effortless, but check to ensure this is possible for you before ordering as its 3+ tons of timber on a crate that is 4 metres in length. I would recommend that you do check everything is there before you commence the build. I discovered that I was missing all the long screws required to build the base which cost us 2 hours right at the start. All the screws and ironmongery are loose and mixed into two cardboard boxes and both boxes are placed deep into the centre of the pallet. When you locate them, count each and every category of fixing and check these against the diagrams that will come with the pallet.

The manufacturer recommends that you apply two coats of preservative and two coats of UV protector and they supply a list of these products you are recommended to use to ensure your guarantee is valid. Bear in mind that these products are very expensive and you should budget for around £300. I would strongly recommend that you invest in an electric sprayer – purchased a Wagner model for £65, designed for spraying preservatives etc which was fantastic and cut the time to do the job of one brushed application down from around one day to less than 2 hours. Don’t forget, you have 4 applications to do!

When the pallet arrives, remove the floor boards and roof boards and apply the treatments on one side before you start the build. Because you cannot access those sides once they are covered in roof felt or they become the underside of the floor! I would recommend interweaving a Damproof Membrane between and across the tantalised floor beams before laying some 40mm deep Celotex (or similar) floor insulation before laying the floorboards. That cost me around £140 from local suppliers but well worth it!

Pay special attention to the base you intend using. Remember that over 3 tons weight will sit on it for many years. The cabin has a floating floor, which means that most of the weight is borne by the outside walls so you should bear this in mind when laying the base. I used extra thick slabs on top of 2 tons of sand, 9 bags of cement and 1 ton of hardcore. I hired a compactor from the local tool hire company to compact the hardcore properly which cost £18 – again, well worth it.

Bear in mind that this cabin has overhangs all around the roof, so factor this in when you are looking to place the cabin close to boundaries. The concrete base measurement I used was 4 metres x 3 metres which is the size recommended by Forest Garden and works well. I am getting electricity piped in to the cabin when funds allow and will definitely install a guttering and water butt in spring as it will eliminate the moisture running down of the rear roof edge. The product DOES NOT come clout nails you need to lay the green mineral felt on the roof. Why not?? I suspect it may be because you have to use two different lengths. Use 20mm clout nails for securing the edges only and shorter clout nails for nailing the roof felt to the roof boards. If you use the 20mm clout nails for the latter, you run the risk of piercing through into the ceiling, so be careful! I would also recommend that you purchase a couple of tubes of quality adhesive and apply that each roof board where it meets the roof joist. Combined with the screws, the adhesive will help eliminate movement which in turn will make your roof as stable as possible, whatever extremes of temperature it’s subjected to.

In summary, this is a fantastic cabin for the price, and I would thoroughly recommend it. Let’s hope it stands the test of time.

    Man cave
I bought this 3 weeks ago and am really pleased with it, solid building, great size for my art studio. Installed in 5 hours by 2 well mannered and efficient guys. Well worth the money.

Very pleased with the end result
Very substantial structure. Much appreciated the double glazing feature but a pity two glazed units were cracked in transit but understand they will be replaced without top much delay

Excellent Log Cabin Worth the Wait
Waited 8 weeks for delivery and installation. The lad that built the did an excellent job and gave useful hints on how to treat and maintain the cabin. Ensure your base is exactly flat otherwise they may not erect the cabin. The wood preserver hides the lovely smell of the timber, but is easy to apply. Now that it is built it is an amazing work space and looks great. Well you impressed even with the wait.

    Melbury Self Assembly Review
Delivery driver was brilliant, notified well ahead of date and then a phone call for the time. Items unloaded in a orderly manner and very accommodating as to where we wanted them placing. Cabin easy to assemble, although the instructions supplied did slightly differ from the you tube videos that Forest Garden also provided but not a real problem to sort. If I wanted to be picky, you have to fit storm braces, which can go on the inside or outside that look a bit crappy in appearance. Checking the photos on the website they don’t show them. But overall very pleased with the service and the product.

Nice log cabin – very unclear instructions
My wife and I installed this log cabin ourselves on to a concrete base. We can’t really fault the product but the instructions provided by Forest Garden were very unclear and some of them were even in Polish. We received a two sets of instructions and some additional pages. One set of instructions were for general log cabin construction so they didn’t even relate to the cabin which we were trying to construct.
We received a large bag of screws, bolts, catches etc all mixed together and no instructions as to what they were for and where they should be used on the Cabin.
The Cabin came on a palette and some pieces of wood were numbered (It was very hard to decipher the numbers as they were scrawled on) and some didn’t have numbers on at all. We have some parts left over, some are storm braces but with the other pieces of wood we have had to guess what they are for.
We phoned the helpline at Forest Garden a couple of times for advice but we were told that this was something that would normally be built by a contractor. Not much help at all really.

    Great cabin.
There was a slight delay in securing a delivery date, but once advised the delivery and installation went smoothly. Really pleased with the assembled cabin. Would be good if there was an option for it to be supplied already preserved/treated, as I am disabled and found it challenging. Overall greay product, really happy.
