Cobra PX650 Professional Walkie Talkies (2-Pack) – PMR446 Rechargeable Business Two-Way Radios:Supplied in good packaging which is suitable for gifting. Inside the box you will find.1 x UK instructions + seven move booklets in other languages.2 x Radios.2 x radio belt clips.1 x double radio charger base + câble & plug.The radios are nicely made and are ip54 rated dustproof and splashproof. They have 16 channels which are announced over the speaker when changing channels. Other features include single plug earphone/mic socket, auto or manual squelch control, panic button which triggers a very loud alarm over both radios, a call button to alert others you’re about to speak, device lock to prevent accidental transmissions.In our use the radios charged easily in the cradle but can also be charged by USB C. Transmissions/reception was clear and the batteries ran 8-10 hours without recharging on the days they were used, and then just left in the charger cradle until we needed them.Overall we were happy with their performance and build quality, however we did not test their maximum range.

Too much feedback as they were so close together so we took them outside to try ,They come with basic but easy to follow instructions to get you communicating effectively with others on the same channel .There are 16 channels and numerous privacy codes , sounds were clear from one person to another and the voice activated messages easy to hear.They appear pretty robust and will be put through their paces while on a coastal hike later in the year .Testing the distances -I feel the 12km range is a bit ambitious but only because it’s hard to be in such perfect terrain .It’s clear that walls, buildings , hills or even dense woodland will reduce the range or even make communication impossible . However , for our purpose they are fine , communication between two groups walking within a few hundred yards of each other. .Good quality construction , the belt clips feel secure , great design and options from a known brand .

Cobra is a well known brand and they make some great products, this one, being a walkie talkie is a true reflection of their quality. I’m going back well over 20 years back and they were great then, and now given the opportunity to test these out, well, they’ve not lost their touch.These are well built, no unnecessary noise or crackles and reception is on par, even when working in a warehouse with steel bars / framework structures, still no issues.As it so happens, we don’t get much signal or reception via mobiles or even over the office wifi, but the addition of these has made a little easier. All I now need to get is an earpiece to make it hands free. It’s much easier to talk to the guy in the forklift than shouting over the bustle in the warehouse.This comes with the charging dock, making this kit complete, ready to use straight out of the box.In ref to battery life, well, we’ve not been able to deplete this over a full day’s worth of usage and we’re talking around 14 hours over shift working in my son’s warehouse, so far so good.The quality of the build is very rugged and tough, ideal for using in the rough terrain without the worry of it possibly breaking, scuffs and scratches, maybe, but it’s a well built unit, plus it’s lightweight, so not a strain on oneself when clipped on.
