Lemme Review –
After nearly a month of real-world use on UK roads, the TomTom GO Navigator 2nd Gen has proven to be a genuine game changer—especially for someone like me, a newly qualified driver still mastering roundabouts. Its advanced features, including clear visual cues, intuitive lane assist, and precise directions, have been invaluable. Navigating complex road systems, particularly roundabouts and motorways, has become far less daunting with the Navigator guiding me confidently at every turn.Performance-wise, the 6-inch display ensures that maps are bright and easily readable even in direct sunlight, and the sound output is perfectly tuned: loud enough to capture attention without being overbearing. The touchscreen is highly responsive. Rerouting is also quick and stress-free during unexpected traffic changes. The overall user interface remains straightforward and intuitive—ideal for those who are new behind the wheel and still building their confidence. On the design front, the TomTom GO Navigator 2nd Gen exudes a sleek and premium feel. However, I believe its aesthetics could be further enhanced by moving away from curved lines. Adopting a design with sharp, straight edges would give it a more modern, streamlined appearance. Despite this minor stylistic critique, the functionality of the device more than compensates, serving my exact needs with flying colors. For new drivers and anyone desiring a reliable, efficient, and premium-feeling navigation solution at an affordable price point, this unit is an excellent choice.

The actual navigator is fantastic, the magnetic holder though cleverly designed had one fault for me, it would not stay on the dashboard, it wouldn’t be able to hold the sat nav so it could be seen. I found a excellent holder (magnetic) that would actually “stick” to the dashboard, a laborious task but I got there in the end

The Sat Nav works well as expected but (Point 1) there is no in-depth manual for it, just a 15 page explanation of what is in each menu ie you can have visual cues on or off , but it does not tell you the 3 types of visual clue they use and what they mean (they are pretty self explanatory that’s not the point I’m making).(Point 2) Don’t try and use the voice control, it understands nothing, 3 different people (a Scotsman and Englishman and an Irishman believe it or not) have all tried to drive to Preston only to be asked which petrol station they wanted. For your sanity just don’t use it and don’t try and get clarification on using it as voice recognition merits 1 line in the aforementioned manual above. And before you ask no there is no bigger manual on the Tom Tom website you are just supposed to know apparently- oh and the official tom tom forum was shut down last year and the telephone helpline was closed during Covid and has not returned. In short if you have used a Tom Tom before then go for it, if you haven’t then good luck.

It’s a shame, because it’s actually a nice device — but save your money. I’ve tried everything suggested to update it via PC or Wi-Fi, and nothing works. My router password isn’t recognised by the device, so I can’t connect that way. The USB connection isn’t recognised either, despite trying multiple cables as advised.I logged in using Google, and although MyDrive Connect found the device, there’s still no meaningful connection. It keeps pestering me to update, but I can’t — and it’s distracting when it tries to update mid-journey.I tried to raise a support ticket, but couldn’t even find where to do that. After weeks of troubleshooting, I discovered my PC reports a missing driver that no search has resolved. If it stops working, it’s toast. TomTom can jog on — the lack of support has really put me off ever paying for a subscription I can’t even access.Buy something simpler if I were you. I’m not a happy bunny.Update 30/10/25.After failing at the simple steps to up date, I eventually had to get into my router and connect using my router security password, leaving me open to being hacked, yes the router is now working but my review stands, it shouldn’t be difficult and take weeks to get a fully functioning sat nav

Annemarie Pruggmayer –
Super
Also: Lass Dir was einfallen!

This item does not work in Australia.
This comes with European Maps only. Cannot get Australian Maps on it and cannot speak with TomTom. Only access to Tom Tom is via robot.
