Bought this TV to replace our 10 year old LG which was getting a bit slow. Mostly really easy to set up, but it took a bit of digging to work out how to scan for Freesat / Freeview channels. Once that was out of the way though, very happy with it. The picture is great, nice, bright and sharp and the 4k AI upscaling is very impressive – basically makes non-HD channels look like HD which is nice! Despite what some online reviews say, the sound is fine, good in fact. I’ve seen a few reviews that seem to compare this to a high-end TV, which seems a bit unfair as the Q7FA isn’t that. I’m not a serious gamer, I’m not bothered about turning my living room into a bone fide cinema and I don’t want to spend over a grand on a TV… If you want a truly high-end TV experience you’d better get your hand in your pocket, but if you want a perfectly nice telly for a very reasonable price, you won’t go far wrong with this one. Exceptional value!

Really happy with this TV so far. Got it as another one we got (different brand) didn’t perform as we expected, and this Samsung has exceeded our expectations. Perfect video, perfect colors, good sound for a TV. Only thing that could improve is Alexa, takes too long to react to button click, sometimes it doesn’t react. hope it’s software related. Otherwise, good quality. Legs are easy to install, no screws, just put in place and strongly slice until they click in place. It has 2 remotes, a normal TV one and the smaller smart TV style remote, which we love as we can have one on each side, if not can also use the app.

I own a 10 year old Samsung and decided to upgrade ,I do not hate this new TV but there are issues whichyou should know about . If id given it 3 stars no one one would read the review .1. There is a comprehensive manual online but its 246 pages long… but no printed version in the box . The quick start guide is worthless so its down to you to work out what the menus contain without the manual.2. The Help screen available from within the setting menu is patronizing and worthless.’i know how to change the channel on the remote’!!!3. If you use use your existing TV as an alarm clock to come on at a specific time in the morning This will not work for you this does not have this feature .( See my edit below it can be done via the smartthings app if you have your phone on the same wifi signal as your TV BUT it does not allow you to chose what channel it comes on with ) There is a sleep time 30min 60min etc and a a turn off at a specific time that’s it .For some this may be a showstopper.4. You cannot edit the channel numbers eg If you want say Blaze on channel 64 to be on channel 1 you cannot do that on this model. You do have 5 favourites where you can add channels but that not what i did on my last TV is simply deleted channels i ahd no interest in and rearranged the numbers of the one i wanted . You can delete channels on this set .5.There is no headphone out socket should you want to run a leaded set of 2.1 speakers .6. Addition speaker/soundbar is connected by Bluetooth which actually worked faultlessly and after a long search you will find a menu setting to allow both these and the TV speaker to operate together but you’ll get a latency lag between them so I would nt bother use a soundbar or the tv not both .7. Set up is over complicated . If you want to detect all free view channels and who wouldnt right …. DO NOT select a service provider when asked , theres an option of ‘my service provider is not listed’ .. half the freeview channels i watch were missing if i selected a provider.8. If you want an amazon fire stick in one of the HDMI sockets you’ll need an HDMI extension that comes with the firestick because the fire stick is too thick for direct HDMI connection9 TV is very thin and on a wall mount that makes getting to the sockets for hdmi usb and aerial a pain , buy a small mirror ….10. the sockets are on the right side of the screen , that may be a deal breaker to some people .11. Samsung want you sign up to their service to get the samsung tv which gives about 499 other channels so thats another company collecting your data .12. see edit below13. Its far too easy to press the netflix, prime video or rakuten ( whatever that is) buttons as the remote is small and those buttons are are around the direction button arrows. My 10 year old existing samsung controller works for ll the common things youd need so do nt throw that away .14. The setting menu is rather basic compared with my older set which had a diagnostic mode which saved the day a couple of times. The good1.Pictures fine2.tv sound is ok3. price was ok4. you can record programs to a usb stick or drive but do not get excited that they are MP4 and you can transfer them they are not they are in an encrypted format that can only be decrypted and viewed from the TV .This is actually brilliant .5. you get a second smaller quick remote which is solar powered or usb charged which is 90% of what youll need on a daily basis .Happy to take questions*******EDIT*********You can get this TV to turn on at a specific time via the Smartthings App . However it is not obvious . You need to initially there is only a switch off option however you can create a number of new schedules and then the turn on option is available BUT it just turns the TV on and in my experience always comes on to BBC1 similarity you can set an off time by the same method within the same new schedule

Had this TV for eight months now so I feel well placed to now review it. Has taken a while to get used to Samsung menu, can seem kinda overwhelming. Picture seems great, I mean I’m not a particular ‘visual phile’ or whatever the description maybe be, personally I think alot of these picture upgrades (4k, QLED etc etc) are Emperor’s new clothes a bit, it’s the industry’s way of selling up more upgraded tech, so no way am I spending £1000 when I know £500 will do the same job to the same level. There’s only so much the human eye can decipher! The only slightly weird thing the TV did once, was that it started to have a mind of it’s own like a poltergeist was controlling the remote or something 😀 but that stopped and has never happened since without the use of holy water. My old TV had a chrome stand which looked nicer then this one is dull black, but a minor observation and I think most TVs have similar. Sound quality I think is good, I however have it connected to speakers via cables but also connects via Bluetooth easily. And I think most people use sound bars these days . Overall a good telly for the money.
