I recently installed a ring doorbell and a number of the Spotlight Cam Pro security cameras.I was happy with all devices, but soon realised I either needed two batteries in the camera at the front of the house or I would be accessing it to change batteries regularly.Then I saw the option for a solar panel and thought it work looking into further.The second generation seemed to have a higher wattage and the price was good when compared to multiple batteries so I took the plunge and ordered one.Mounting was easy as the front of the house gets daylight for long enough to give quite a few hours charging, so i mounted in near the camera and alongside a solar panel form the door bell (fitted at same time, see separate review.)The supplied fixings seemed pretty good quality and made a nice secure fix, the bracket is a little plasticky but should be ok.Since installation the camera has remained charged at 90-100% most if not all the time.Obviously come winter I accept this may change, but so far even on gray days it has done a decent job charging it up after the nighttime.I am very pleased with this purchase, and will look at fitting more for the other cameras i own, but their location means solar panels need to be further away making install a bit trickier, but I’ll look at it.

Works great with my Stick Up Cam using the included adapter. Installed yesterday evening with battery at 75%, had maybe 5 hours of daylight and it’s up to 100% despite battery drain being the highest with all settings enabled. Will see how it goes long-term, but seems perfect for my needs so far. Easy to install on my pebbledash render with just 2 screws and the option to cable manage along the wall if needed. The only negative I found is the adapter is quite tough to slot on with the USB-C port being so recessed, but I’ll never have to undo this so not a big deal.

This is rings latest solar panel which is a great accessory if you find constantly charging batteries a pain.I was rather impressed that it keeps a spotlight cam charged even in winter that is between two houses and so only gets a very limited amount of sunlight.In fact it is so good that I effectively use it as a battery charger and swap its battery with my doorbell one when it is flat. This has the added advantage of ensuring that the battery is regularly discharged.Fitting is easy and its angle is adjustable.The standard lead is USB C and an adapter is included although I’m not sure what that devices that is for.For best value you should buy it on a ‘prime day’ of which there are several during the year.Definitely a useful addition to a ring camera.

Great purchase. Not once had to charge batteries since fitting the solar panel to my camera with 2 batteries. High quality solar panel and very easy to fit and use. Great buy and a must for people who have ring cameras outside.

I recently added the Ring Solar Panel (2nd Generation, USB-C, 4W in Black) to my new Ring Spotlight Cam Pro, and it’s been absolutely spot on. Setup was quick and simple — just plug it in via USB-C, mount it where it gets good daylight, and it’s ready to go. Within a day, the camera was charging consistently, and I’ve not had to think about battery levels since.The panel is compact, well-built, and matches the camera nicely. Even on typical UK cloudy days, it still manages to keep the battery topped up without any trouble. It’s also great knowing the camera can stay powered year-round without me climbing up to change batteries.If you have a Ring Spotlight Cam Pro or Spotlight Cam Plus, this solar panel is a smart upgrade. Reliable, tidy, and genuinely hassle-free — exactly what I wanted.

Good quality, the stand for it also feels solid. Very easy to install and works well as soon as it’s plugged in. I’m using it with the Ring outdoor cam and it makes a considerable difference to the battery life.

Even more efficient than expected. I bought it for a high-definition (2K) outdoor camera placed in a high-traffic area, and therefore draining the battery on both accounts (the battery would last less than a fortnight). It took only 3 days (with only 4-5 hours of sun each) to fully charge both batteries (one close to zero, the other half charged). It charges about 50% of a battery on a short winter’s day, as long as there are a few hours of sun. I installed it a week ago and, after the initial charge, both batteries are close to fully charged most of the time. I will see if the second battery is still needed, e.g. as a backup during a long period of overcast days. The panel is installed on a South-facing façade receiving plenty of direct sunlight, so it may require longer to charge in a different setting. I am extremely happy with the purchase and would recommend without reservations. I no longer need to climb up a ladder and fiddle with the battery compartment, the batteries are self-charging. Great result.
