I’ve been using the Razer BlackShark V2 X (for Xbox) for several weeks now, and it’s one of the best budget e-sports headsets I’ve used so far. Here’s what stood out:👍 What I LikedAudio clarity & soundstage — The 50 mm TriForce drivers deliver crisp, detailed sound. I can hear footsteps in the distance, which gives me an edge in competitive play.Comfort for long sessions — The padding and clamping force are just right. After long multiplayer sessions, my ears aren’t sore.Lightweight design — It doesn’t feel weighty on my head; excellent for extended use.Good mic quality — The mic is clear for team chat. Opponents or teammates haven’t complained about distortion or background noise so far.Plug-and-play simplicity — With the wired connection, there’s no lag, no pairing, no fuss. On Xbox it works very cleanly.Solid build quality — It feels well put together. The materials feel decent, not flimsy.

The Blackshark V3 Pro improves upon almost everything that was good about the V2 Pro. The biggest improvement is the audio, thanks to the Bio-Cellulose drivers. They’re the same drivers Razer used in the Kraken V4 Pro (the vibrating headset), only larger (50mm). It makes such a difference to the clarity. There’s a thump to the bass without being muffled. I really wasn’t a big fan of the audio from the V2 Pro, so the V3 is a significant improvement. The standard EQ is fine, but with several EQ settings to choose from, I’ve leaned towards the ‘Game’ setting – which is also louder. What is great about the audio is – unlike with other headsets I’ve used – adjusting the EQ results in very noticeable differences. This can be done via the Razer audio app on Android/iPhone, Synapse on PC or via the Razer audio app on Xbox. Note the Xbox version also works on PC & PS5 (the PS5 version does not work on Xbox). So if you don’t mind green stitching on the headband & have a Xbox & PS5 – buy the Xbox version! The spatial audio deserves a special mention. I was surprised how wide the soundstage is. Playing the opening level of Indiana Jones And The Great Circle, the jungle environment is presented in incredible detail. Subtle sounds can be heard far-off into the distance. It’s incredibly immersive. I already had a Dolby Atmos licence, which I prefer over Windows Sonic.Other improvements include build quality. The forks are thicker & the earcups now tilt by 15 degrees each-way. The brackets which connect to the headband are much improved. The build in general is much more robust. The earcup face plates are now removable (magnetic) & can be replaced with custom covers once available, if that’s your thing. The Razer Blackshark V3 Pro definitely feel more premium – which includes the ear cushions (also removeable). There’s also zero issues wearing with glasses. There’s various extras like ANC & simultaneous Bluetooth. The ANC works quite well. Just don’t expect the ANC to compete with dedicated ANC Bluetooth headphones. It’s a nice feature that does the job for gaming. I suspect if you use leatherette ear pads, the ANC will be even better. You can guarantee Wicked Cushions will release a freeze gel alternative. Personally, I can’t fault the stock pads on this occasion. There has been a bit of controversy over the microphone. Although the mic is technically superior to the V2 Pro, some have complained it isn’t quite as good in practice. However, remove the boom mic cover & fiddle with the EQ (Broadcast is a good setting) & you’ll discover the mic is better than the V2 Pro. My friends have commented on how clear my voice is using it.Having been disappointed by the V2 Pro, but impressed by the audio from the Kraken V4 Pro, I had high hopes for the Blackshark V3 Pro. The Bio-Cellulose drivers make all the difference. The headset is extremely comfortable, to the point you forget you’re wearing it. Despite being slightly heavier than the V2 Pro, they’re even more comfortable. Maybe it’s the adjustable tilt of the ear cups & slightly less clamp force, or the improved quality of the ear cushions? The V2 Pro’s were already comfortable, so it’s surprising Razer have made improvements. To conclude, the Razer Blackshark V3 Pro is the best headset I’ve used to date. I’ve used numerous gaming headsets for comparison. For instance, do they sound as good as the Audeze Maxwell? No, but they’re much more comfortable! They sound better than the Nova Pro Wireless. The closest rival is arguably the Astro A50 Gen 5, which have slightly better textured bass. But they’re not as comfortable as the V3 & lack in features. There is no such thing as the perfect headset for everyone, but the Blackshark V3 Pro’s come damn close. There’s a lot to consider when purchasing a gaming headset: audio, comfort, features, build quality, microphone & cost. This headset ticks all the boxes without any significant flaws. So many headsets I’ve used always have a deal-breaker. Whilst £250 isn’t cheap, I would argue the V3 Pro’s represent good value for money. The Blackshark finally has a premium product in its line-up.For £100 less there is the Blackshark V3 as an alternative, which drops the ANC, slightly downgrades build quality & replaces 50mm Bio-Cellulose drivers for 50mm titanium coated drivers. They won’t sound as good as the pro version & the mic is a slight downgrade. But losing ANC isn’t a huge deal. Razer have made a smart move to offer more options in the Blackshark range.

Absolutely love this. I’ve had THREE of the official Microsoft Xbox Series X headsets that are well priced and work superbly – but sadly aren’t built to last (all snapped at the same point by the cans).I wanted something that gave great Dolby Atmos or equivalent sound when playing COD in particular – able to hear footsteps and directional audio with real clarity, but also a noise-cancelling microhone as I sit in the room with my children!I initally purchased the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X Wireless Xbox Series – the reviews suggested it was brill. However, the audio tuning let me with a muffled sound, and even more importantly, I couldn’t tune the microphone to stop players hearing my family even when talking quietly!I purchased this and LOVE IT. I’m about 2-3 weeks in playing every day and it comes with an iOS app for tuning. In fact, it can pair with the iPhone byBluetooth and Xbox by 2.4Ghz simultaneously – meaning I can tune and continue playing.Clarity is superb – I can hear everything crystal clear but not at the expense of reduced dynamic range or muffling. And I can fine-tune the microphone to the level I want. Andddd, I can tune the sidetone level (where I hear my own voice when I’ve got the headset on) so it sounds natural. It’s lightweight. Battery life is brilliant. It’s solidly made. Definitely on a winner 🙂

Good sound quality out of the box. You have to use synapse (which is why I’m docking a star) to tweak and have the full suite of features available with the headset on PC.Headset is comfortable, but I’d prefer a softer material on the earcups and headband as what is used feels a little cheap and is a pain to keep clean. Build quality so far is solid and the battery life has been as advertised so far on regular use. Would be nice to have a charging dock however charging through USB is fairly fast and not too much of an inconvenience. Mic quality was fixed with a firmware update through synapse. I like them but I don’t love them, at this price point there are better options available

Very good headset.App is easy to use in Xbox and change EQ settings depending on what game you are playing. They are also very good for listening to music.Comfortable to wear for long periods and have good noise cancelling effect for people in the background. (Can hear the missus nagging me to get off)Friends say voice is crystal clear through party and game chats.A little bit more expensive than other headsets but worth the money.

This is the best headset i have bought ever for Xbox, battery life is very good, i am a heavy gamer and only need to charge my headset every 3 days, microphone quality is amazing, they are comfortable and durable and the wireless connection is brilliant, they weigh a little on the heavy side compared to wired headsets but overall would buy again.
