This is probably my fourth set of Panasonic DECT phones: they are well made and perfect for my use. I like this fairly high-end model because it has a sneaky headphone socket which is perfect for listening to long conference calls with half an ear whilst doing other stuff. The other thing I really like is voice announcing – when a call comes in, it says “Call from Rishi Sunak” (or whoever, as long as you have them in your phone book, and have the caller id service) – so useful. My observation from owning them is that they seem to have a predetermined life span. The phones just all decide to die, sometimes within days of each other. Put the phone on its cradle, and it will start chirping. Change the batteries, no difference, change the cradle, no difference. The handset itself will die after maybe 8-10 years. Good for Panasonic sales.I find the handset volume more than adequate – and similar to previous versions – but I would say that it wouldn’t do any harm if they could go a bit louder. The colour screen doesn’t do much for you other than prettification – you can’t e.g. watch movies on it. But it is pretty.A phone like this shouldn’t need a manual, and indeed you don’t get much of a manual with it, but you get a link where you can download one. Again my observation is that they seem to favour short codes in the manual (e.g. press #137 to do this). Might be okay in the Panasonic design department, but for the casual user, they’re not going to want to fill their brain with short codes. To be fair, almost everything can be done through the phone menus, but (at least from reading the manual) there’s a few things that require a short code e.g. “deregistering a handset”, so you need to keep that downloaded manual handy.A few bells & whistles over my last set of phones (e.g. voicemail can be set to call a number if a message is left), but nothing really earth-shattering.The handsets curve upwards slightly at the bottom, which probably improves speech pick-up, but means they don’t fit in the old cradles, and it gives them a slightly imbalanced look. One out of my 5 old handsets is still working (so far), and it is easy to register it with the new system; it is fairly compatible – but you can’t access the phone book on the new system. And likewise there’s no way to copy the old phone book on to the new system (I called Panasonic to check) – so be prepared for a morning of button pressing when setting it up.In short – a very good phone, but some features could be a little more user-friendly, and don’t expect it to work forever.

Bought these to replace a quad set of panasonic cordless phones that had worked reliably for 15-20 years only lately becoming tempermental (buttons requiring man, many hard presses in order to function – despite cleaning the internal contact pads with IPA and also the displays being somewhat flaky).Originally bought the Panasonic KX-TG6823EB Trio set – but one of the handsets was faulty on arrival. These phones are simple to set up and easy to use. Proramming the numbers in follows the standard Panasonic method – somewhat tedious. However, once one handset has numbers in its directory, these are copied across to othe others (or at least are accessible), which saves time. Another nice feature is that the handsets can be individually named – e.g. ‘Kitchen’, ‘Office’, Lounge’ etc.The technology doesn’t seem to have advanced much over the past 15-20 years or so, and the speakerphone quality isn’t stellar – probably a 7/10.Overall, a decent system for a decent price. Included is a ‘User Guide’ but only has around 16 pages or so and is not terribly useful. Other handsets that we have have been able to link to the base station using the GAP compatibility (Generic Access Profile). Theoretically any cordless phone wih GAP compatibility – such as those from BT, VTech or Gigaset should be able to connect to thus system.

There are a few things I read in reviews that are incorrect so I thought I would put them right. Some settings are unique to each handset and some are shared amongst the entire system. Shared settings are updated automatically and there is no need to set them in each handset. For example, setting the time and date will update the time and date in all the handsets. Another example is if you add a contact using any handset that information will be shared with all the handsets. Some settings on the other hand are unique to each handset and have to be individually programmed in to each handset. The handset volumes, ring tones and so on. All this just works seamlessly. You can also use any handset to program the settings of the base unit, such as the answerphone. The base unit also has a ringer in it, so that can be set too.The phones are very adaptable. Just about everything can be set or unset. It’s all laid out very logically in the menu and is mostly very intuitive. The only thing that caught me out is that sometimes the pickup and end-call buttons need to be used while navigating the menus. As soon as you realise that though everything else is easy.Everything works as it should and the phones really are good. Incidentally there are 40 ring tones to choose from including specials for Christmas! I must confess that I thought they sounded a little dated. Also the wallpapers for the display seemed to be mostly rain a few flowers and more rain. The sound is a little tinny but very clear. The volume could be a little higher but was enough for me.There is a rather annoying delay of a few seconds when you access the phonebook. However the phonebook itself is extremely well laid out and informative. The voice announcement of who is calling really is extremely useful. How many times have you run to the phone thinking it was aunt May when it turned out to be a double glazing salesman? Well now you can take a more leisurely stroll when the caller is unknown. The nuisance call blocking is simple but highly effective. I block all calls with no number, all that start with 00 ( international calls ) , and if someone calls who I don’t know they get individually blocked, which just takes a few keypresses. In general comparing this phone to similar level BT phones the Panasonic is more flexible and that makes it also a little more complicated to use. It has more settings albeit uses more keypresses to do the same thing. There is one important difference between the two, though, and that is the way call blocking works. With the BT phone any calling number is always displayed on the display but if it’s blocked it doesn’t ring. So if you look on the handset you can see a blocked number is calling and you can pick up if you decide to. On the Panasonic though the call is NOT displayed on the display. To my mind this is a weakness with the Panasonic because you could accidentally pickup on a blocked number because it’s not on the display. All in all this is a really impressive set of phones. Expensive, yes, but well worth the money and these days you can usually pick up a bargain if you shop around.

I ordered from Australia but they delivered with English plugs
This is a few days later and I had some plug converters in the bottom drawer even though I’m still waiting on the ones I ordered. I’ve got the phones working and they’re bloody excellent. Easy to set up and I love them. They work on my NBN and now I’m vey happy. Please note they do have English plugs.Doesn’t seem suitable for Australia and the instructions say designed for use on UK and Ireland Analogue system. Until I get the adapters I had to buy I don’t know if it will work.
