Does what it says at a good price.

Unusable waste of money, buzzing loud first time it was plugged in.

I bought this to use a Waterpik that I purchased in Canada. I’d tried to plug it into the bathroom socket, but it wasn’t quite powerful enough for the Waterpik to work properly. So I bought this. Transformers have really come a long way since I last had one in the 1990s. They used to be big ugly boxes then, and they made a ‘boom’ noise when they were switched on. This one is fantastic and really showcases how far we’ve come since then. It has a nice long cable, so can act as an extension lead too. I think the cable is well over 1m long. There’s no need to switch it on either, just plug it into the wall and plug your US product into it, and you’re good to go.It’s quite heavy, but still fairly small. I carried it around in a rucksack when I went travelling and it wasn’t a bother. I’s say it weighs about the same as a bottle of water, and it’s about the size of a small grapefruit. It was good value at less than £15, and I think the quality is good enough that it will last a long time.

I ordered three of these items and two of them work just fine but the third just never worked.

Working perfectly, it is normal to heat up since they way how it works is by reducing voltage from 240V to 110V. However, it can run for many hours but I would not leave on, since current is flowing and being transformed even if your device is not on. I bought it to use it to power up my Super Nintendo that I imported from USA, the only version that run games at the correct speed, but that is another story. Anyway, it is perfect, as far as I am aware, for running foreign retro consoles, specially the Nintendo ones, which have specific voltage requirements.

The product feels substantial but after only a few uses, five maximum, the electrical cord began to pull away from the unit exposing the wires. It’s easily fixed with a bit of electrical tape but could be dangerous if the sheaths which cover the individual wires were to split. It wasn’t an expensive product that shouldn’t matter when it comes to safety.

Terrible product, I bought this product a few months ago, but never got a chance to use because the speakers i brought from the US to the UK and intended to us it on had already blown out. I just returned from the US from break and began to use them on my xbox one. It started of great no problems and about 2-3 hours for playing all of sudden my xbox just turned off. This adapter just died after just 3 hours of use. All i can do now is hope that I can get a refund

It’s obviously reliable . To use, you simply plug in the US /Canadian 120 volt appliance . It has a three pin rather than a two pin socket , so it will take an appliance fitted with an earth wire . This is a bonus . Then simple plug it into the UK mains and your all ready for use . it,s perfect for heavy duty MOTOR DRIVEN pet & hair clippers . But DO NOT USE with magnet induction coil clippers or razors as the USA & Canada are on 60hz cycles and the UK & Europe are only 50 Hz .Their induction coils do not like 50hz ,it make them rattle very noisily . But it would be ok to use on induction coils imported from the middle east , because although their electricity is only 120volt ,like ours it’s 50 Hz .

Dangerous
Dangerous and doesn’t work. I could smell something burning. I am going to ask thinkassemble.co.uk for a refund and report the item.

Too heavy and big!
This thing is huge and heavy! It did not seem very compatible or portable for travel. The weight alone made me return it. The picture is very deceiving.
