I use to be massively into my home cinema with thx Lucas film 5.2 speakers etc but didn’t realise how much prices have gone up, this MARANTZ amp is very very good value for money the options are mind blowing you can set-up speakers for atmos etc lots of different ways for speakers to be set up and that’s the most important thing it can auto set-up your sound environment for best listening but if you know what your doing I suggestUsing your own ears, it comes with a mic for the auto set-up, if you do set-up yourself bare in mind there are lots and lots of setting, I have mine connect via the 8k port to my SKYGLASS tv this gives my tv 8 more hdmi ports 4k and 8k this works perfectly with the eARC on the SKYGLASS and any device plugged into the amp controls the sound via eARC.Some people are put off with the small display but really don’t be you won’t really need to use it only on set-up but the amp has an app if you don’t want to use the display or do what I did and use the on tv screen display this makes it much easier. Now sound for cinema is just spot on once you have it set-up the way you like your sound I do recommend not to turn the voice enhancer up to much as your lose the quality of the remaining audio. Now sound for music is totally amazing has the normal apps for stream from the sound is crisp clear and cleanAs you would expect from MARANTZSuch a good amp and priced perfectly go ahead and buy you won’t be sorry, I highly recommend

I bought this when my Yamaha RX-V6A developed a fault and I needed a stand-in whilst it was away being repaired. The Marantz is a great AV amp with just about everything you need to get started in both stereo and multi channel home cinema. It’s musical enough to be used for music and has enough power for most home cinema uses, plus it has a full set of pre-outs for all 7 channels so you can add amplification later if you want / need to. It has Bluetooth and WiFi connections to allow you to play music from your phone or local storage device and has enough hdmi connections for most systems. I have a personal preference for the sound of the Yamaha, which is slightly more insightful and a little less warm than the marantz. Having said that the Marantz looks and feels like a quality product where the Yamaha is a little more basic, especially in the UI. Little touches like the back lit buttons on the remote control just set the Marantz apart from the Yamaha. So overall I love this amp and it will be a tough decision which one to part with when the Yamaha comes back!

I have owned Marantz products for years and I find their sound to be spot on for my tastes as I use this amp a lot for music and music streaming, with it being used less for films. Not to mention build quality being good as I have never had a fault with the various products I have had over the last 20 years. The HEOS app can be a bit fiddly at times, but that really is the only gripe I can think of. Setup is easy enough, sound quality is superb without spending thousands for better, and having the network streaming really makes it as a just add speakers option for music lovers as well as a nice and compact Cinema Amp for the film lovers.

I got this to replace my Sony amp which has been playing up and with no dates for a UK release of a new model this one looked interesting. It may not be as tall as a classic amp but it is deeper and a little wider.Anyway, after the fun task of swapping over all the speaker cables initial setup went fine with it happy with my speakers and room calibration. It does it for various seating positions for 3 or 6 people but you can complete after 3 seating spots. It all works and sounds fine in “Auto” sound decode mode except for “Dolby Surround” which you have to select manually (bug or poor design), all you get by default is stereo and I have a lot of media with “Dolby Surround” sound. Other sound modes e.g. 5.1 are selected okay in “Auto”.ATMOS of course is selected automatically. The remote is okay and has a backlight (button on the right side) and the front display is small and pretty useless. The onscreen displays are great giving both detailed sound and video format information. My only other surprise was the inbuilt video upscaling only works with an 8K TV and I would have expected it also to also support a 4K TV (If a chip can handle 8K upscale 4K upscale I would have thought would be easy).Granted, your video devices may have their own upscale technology so it may not be an issue for you.The output power seems adequate for my needs and I have had it playing as loud as my Sony.I just hope it fits on the shelf – It did but more of a struggle.

I bought the Marantz cinema 70s. It arrived next day but I was disappointed to find there was an audible 50 or 60hz hum even after going through the usual causes of and eliminating each of them. I rang Marantz Service and right away was told to return it to amazon as it was faulty. Rang Think Assemble and arranged for it to be picked up from my house next day. The replacement arrived at my door the nexxt day 2 hours before the faulty one was picked up! The new one is perfect! No humming whatsoever and beautiful sound and video processing! So happy with Marantz service and with Think Assemble

This product worked well for 2 months then it suddenly stopped. It would not go beyond protection mode. I contacted Maranz who were unable to assist beyond checking the speaker cables which I did without success. I have returned it to Think Assemble and I am still after 2 weeks waiting for a refund. This has not been a good experience.
