Daughter loves it, best present she’s had. Pictures come out a little over exposed at times and the films are expensive, so be prepared for that.

I brought it on July 13th but I am writing a review now so that I can say my genuine opinion.I love this Instax Mini camera! It’s super cute, lightweight, and perfect for capturing memories instantly. The photo quality has a charming vintage-style prints are adorable and make great keepsakes or gifts. Just be aware that film can get a bit pricey—but totally worth it for the fun and creativity!

This is a good gift takes good photos easy to operate comes in different colours.

Bought as a gift for an 11 year old who wanted a camera but does not yet have a phone. The camera itself has a very sturdy feel to it and is robust enough that I am not worried about it standing up to the rigours of an older child. The pastel colours available are all really appealing and the pink one we have is a lovely colour and well received by my daughter. A case is an advisable add on I would recommend as although sturdy, it’s a bulky item to carry around on its own (not exactly pocket sized!) and so a case adds some extra protection from bumps as well as a more convenient way to carry it around (there is a wrist strap included).In terms of functionality, the camera itself is easy to use with a simple twist of the lens to turn it on and off, with an extra twist to use the zoom lens for close ups. A simple button press takes the photo although be warned not to press it accidentally when positioning the camera as it obviously will waste a photo (we have had a few ‘oops’ moments!)! It is also simple to insert and use a film pack (which come in packs of 10) and the back clicks securely in place after the film is inserted so is unlikely to be opened by accident (& thus ruin the film). For a newbie, I would alert you to the fact that the first ‘picture’ on the film after insertion is actually the plastic cover which took us by surprise the first time after carefully taking a picture then realising it wasn’t actually a picture at all that popped out! There is a useful countdown number on the back too which shows you how many pictures are left on the film before it runs out which is helpful, especially if you have a child using it. The selfie mirror is a nice feature to help get better selfies if that is what you want to use the camera for. My daughter has used this, but prefers being able to look through the lens to take a photo.The quality of the pictures does vary and depends on several factors including how still you hold the camera, how light it is and how close the subject for the photo is. My daughter has had varying success with the photos so far (see examples of this in the pictures) and we have found the flash (which triggers automatically when needed) only minimally impactful when it is a darker environment. I would generally avoid very dim locations for photos. Also, far away pictures do not have a very clear defined picture quality so perhaps not the best use for this type of camera. What it does well though is closer up photos in brightly lit areas and my daughter has been pleased with how well some of the pictures have come out. The impact of a picture popping out of the camera and the excitement of watching it slowly develop is real. So fun! Also, having an instant record of something you can keep, or give to a friend is a lovely feature which is somehow lost in the digital world we live in. My daughter has been able to easily document her holidays and time spent with friends and family, without parental input, and has some lovely keepsakes she can look at. The pictures are a great size for making a wall collage, scrapbooking with or keeping in a wallet etc.Overall, the camera is a nice little piece of equipment that has a retro feel to it and makes for a lovely gift. Whilst not the best quality of pictures, the instant and tangible nature of the photos make it a worthwhile way to create memories to look back on. It’s not a digital camera and it’s not trying to be, but this instant camera creates an element of fun to taking photos that is lost with digital.
