My first Show device. Good picture and sound quality. Ideal as stand alone or integrated into home management security and entertainment system. Not yet scratched the surface of its capability but a nice handy size clock, picture frame, infotainment centre and general Alexa product.

Sound is nice and full at moderate to loud volumes but (as with most speakers except Bose) becomes quite thin as low volumes. Not a major criticism as generally expected and does fill a room when louder.Why did I buy this? I am working with Echo multi-speaker to try and give me a Sonos-like function. I gave connected Echo Dots to stereo amps and power amps as well as an Echo Plus and this Echo Show. It is brilliant to have the same music playing in 4 rooms, my workshop and BBQ area! Plus the Show displays the album artwork. I’m probably not really using its main function of a GUI and display but so far it’s a nice addition to my hone setup. The screen is nice but the touch controls are not quite as sophisticated as an iPad. For the price it’s very good.

This Echo Show 8 (3rd Generation, 2023 release) is BRILLIANT!!! It was VERY easy to set up and use, ths screen size is large enough to view the displayed text and album covers. The sound quality is EXTREMELY high quality; and it reliably plays ALL the music we request with us merely suggesting the artist or music we choose to listen to. We’ve even tried listening to a book and the voice reading the text is clear. We couldn’t be HAPPIER with our purchase, the technology behind this is INCREDIBLE!

I have used Echo Show 8 as the core of my smart home for 3 months, and I have not had a single week without critical issues. The software quality is abysmal. It seems thinkassemble.co.uk’s architecture is so deeply flawed that achieving a reliable smart home setup is simply impossible.Here is my experience:Regional Mess: Initially, the system mixed data from different regions, which completely corrupted all my automations.Unreliable Device Discovery: After a full re-setup (over 40 devices), the Echo Show started “losing” them randomly. One day a lamp works, the next day it’s “unresponsive,” and the day after it works again for no apparent reason.The “Household” Disaster: The moment I added my wife to the thinkassemble.co.uk Household, the system collapsed. Half of our devices disappeared, others were duplicated, and all automations broke. It took hours to fix, only for the device to “lose” everything again a week later.Hallucinating Devices: Currently, the device is useless. When I ask it to list my smart home devices, it lists things we don’t even own, while failing to see the lamps standing right in front of it.Conclusion: The issues are not just “bugs” — they are baked into the core architecture. If you want a smart home that actually makes your life easier rather than creating a second job as a part-time troubleshooter, stay away from this product. It is fundamentally broken and unreliable.

Echo 8 is Amazing!
Had previously owned an echo. But the Echo 8 totally exceeds it. Great sound. I use it for recipes, very convenient to be able to see ingredients and instructions on the screen. Would definitely recommend.
