Great idea for the elderly and inferm. Got it for my mother and would not be without now but it stopped making outgoing calls after 4 months so this is the replacement

Sadly, my mother in law has dementia and her condition has deteriorated over recent months. She had a pair of regular land line handsets that only offered a redial option. This was all she could manage to do to call my mobile, the basic phone not having any form of speed dial etc. This worked, for a time, but she’d often press the wrong key before locating the redial and in doing so, wiped my number from the redial memory. What to do?Looking around Think Assemble for something better, I came across this big button phone that, more importantly, had just three, large speed dial buttons. Other brands offered up to five, but three seemed more than adequate and each button as a result would be that little bit bigger/better spaced apart. The ability to slip a suitably sized photo under each of the three dedicated speed dial buttons was also a handy touch. With dedicated speed dial buttons, there was no danger of pressing other keypad buttons first to disrupt this feature. The main keypad buttons are nice and big and very well spaced. They have a concave profile to allow better accuracy, especially for those with sight impairment. The phone flashes a light when ringing, useful for those a little hard of hearing to know when someone is calling. To that end, the ringer volume is configurable with a roller type volume control and does go quite loud with a suitably shrill tone that should alert those with mild to moderate hearing difficulties.Speed dial setup was easy, once I realized the mode switch to facilitate this was already in the correct position to do so. Now, my mother in law is able to contact me at the touch of a pictured button. Although, I haven’t yet replaced the stock photos that came with the phone, so sometimes she thinks of me as a woman, like the photo on the button, despite being male. The phone comes with a wall mounting bracket and the supplied telephone cable to connect to a wall socket is generously long, so placing this unit shouldn’t be much of a problem for most.At the price point offered, this phone is well designed and works well for my quite impaired mother in law. Of course, having been in contact with a dementia sufferer for a while now, I can see other features that would further improve this phone. For example, the ability to disable the regular keypad digits to prevent calls to the Police, something that has been threatened on a number of occasions when she is in a state. This alone could save a major amount of stress, not to mention Police resources.I would recommend this phone to those with loved ones that suffer from sight difficulties, hearing loss and/or dementia. This phone has been a real God send and worth every penny. It’s its simplicity, not its sophistication, that is most important.

Just when we had lost hope that our 93 year old relative would be able to use a phone again we discovered this option. Large buttons with 3 easy to pre-set options it’s just an easy to use “old school” phone that you just lift the receiver & talk into, plus it’s loud! Nothing fancy, nothing to remember just lift & speak. A perfect solution for anyone with memory issues, trouble with arthritic fingers, hearing loss. Also perfect if you’re happy for it to be in one place in easy reach by the side of the bed or armchair.

i have kept my landline, as it was included in a TV/WIFI package. it is very useful when you have long telephone calls to make to providers. Plus, we have poor mobile service in this area, i have to go on the doorstep to make a call using that.Recently i have been berating buisnesses for their poor number options-but have just realised that my number 3 doesn’t work on my old handset! so i got this one to replace it. it came the next day. it is lovely and clear. i don’t need the other functions on it-i just want to make the odd call.i am disabled, so i feel i need a landline as well-i can’t rely on my mobile if in difficulty.it was very easy to set up, it just plugs in to the wall socket like your old one.

Disappointed with theses phones, i bought 2 for my elderly hard of hearing grandmother. The ringer volume on these phones are not as loud as they claim to be, imo it is no louder than on stnadard phones, we had to buy an external loud ringer to plug into the phone line for her to be able to hear the phone ringing.secondly, the in call volume is not very good, i set the call volume to it’s highest and my Grandmother still has difficulty hearing what the other person is saying. The only plus point with these phones is the extra large number buttons, which are great for those with mild sight impairement and arthritic hands.on the whole these phones are disappointing as the volune functions and ringer are no different to standard phones, Doro could do better in designing a phone that those with hearing loss can actually use to firstly hear the phone ringing and to hear what the other person is saying, i am not hearing impaired myself and can tell no difference between this phone or any normal phone on the sound that comes from it.

I found the phone surprisingly very easy to set up. Had read previous comments from others that they had problems but installation was easy when you follow the instructions, The most difficult thing was finding the photos to go in the appropriate buttons and then getting them to the correct size. The only gripe I have with it is the volume when ringing is not very loud, especially when the television is on at a high volume or the person is in another room.Variations on the ring tone would also be useful and caller display would be an added benefit, but that would probably increase the price. This phone is ample for our needs and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to have a simple phone for someone with dementia to make and receive calls.

Ideal para una persona mayor , todo es poco para hacerles la vida mas fácil. Tiene un timbre potente y teclas enormes . Lo mejor los 3 botones de llamada directa con fotos . Estoy muy contento con el producto .
