Good overall car radio set. DAB could be a little more intuitive to use but reception and quality is good. Phone connection is easy, Bluetooth music is good and telephone hands free is good, the external mic clip could be better but for the price can’t ask for more.

Fitted in a 1995 MX5, June 2025.For the price paid I think it’s very good! Fitted myself, the single DIN cage fitted well.Instruction manual and self wire cables were labelled well (although I did buy an ISO adaptor for £5 as I couldn’t be bothered to manually wire connectors).Bluetooth connected well (iPhone 15). Did a trial call and the call quality was ok.Only point I would add, is that I ignore the black earth/ground, I chose to earth it via the aerial. This might be an MX5 car specific thing, earthing to any metal component or earth should work, the cable comes in the box.

Nice unit, very light and functions well – made in china so it’s mostly hollow on the inside and very plastic / cheap feeling when touching or changing functions. Installed for a few hours, tested but returned since didn’t fit needs & I’m using the old radio since it’s a lot better (has less functions, but does a better job). Felt like a downgrade, guess if you don’t spend 300/400 on a good Blaupunkt the entry-level is just not worth it.

Fantastic stereo at an amazingly cheap price. Has every function I needed and looks very smart. The installation could not be simpler due to standard connections, and connecting my sub was just as easy. Sound quality is fantastic, same as other Blaupunkts I own and have owned. No ridiculous graphic equalisers to deal with, just simple bass, treble and loudness, plus 3 or 4 EQ presets. I personally use it standard settings with +2 treble, and in combination with my boot mounted 12″ sub the sound is truly exceptional. It has AUX in, bluetooth, USB charge and USB audio in. All are super easy to use and the bluetooth is brilliant for both audio and calls. I truly cannot fault the unit. My older blaupunkt which was upgraded by this one had 2 features that were good – a removable front panel, and SD card slot, but did not have bluetooth. I can live without either of those features, but be aware of this before purchase.OK, after the first few days of use I have had to drop the review from a 5 to a 2….. Why? Well, firstly, the digital display is already failing…. It was initially equally bright all over, but has now become much darker in the middle and very bright at the edges. Not good. I read of others who suffered a completely failed display and believe this one will follow suit. Next, the inability to dim the display, and the fact that the system lighting does not dim with the dash lights is quite useless. On a dark night the stereo is way too bright, and could not be lived with. My older Blaupunkt dimmed with the cabin lighting, why does this one not do the same? Finally, even though the info displayed on the screen from Bluetooth etc is good, it is irritating that is constantly scrolls. Why is there no setting to lock the display on the clock, or perhaps only scroll the song name etc one time only? Sadly, I will be returning this item due to the failing display, but the other issues have put me off getting a replacement.
