This is the perfect extension for what I needed, as I have a load of small devices that need to be charged all the time, so having 6 outlets offers great functionality. You have a single switch that turns all of the outlets off.The cable is short, but again, this is what I needed. But it’s worth pointing out, as it’s 0.61m. It’s a chunky cable, though, so that’s good to see.The extension comes with surge protection, so it should offer some protection to minor surges in the power supply. We sometimes get little surges, and these can affect sensitive devices such as computers. It’s also fitted with a 13a fuse, so you are getting 2 types of protection, surge, and overcurrent.Design-wise, it’s your basic long extension lead, and is easy to use.

I’ve been using the thinkassemble.co.uk Basics Surge Protector Power Strip for a while now and it’s proven to be a solid, no-nonsense addition to my desk setup. It has six outlets, which is plenty for charging multiple devices or plugging in a few peripherals without having to swap plugs constantly. The 600-joule surge protection gives peace of mind that devices are protected from minor spikes, and the build feels durable enough for regular use.The 0.61 m cord is short but convenient if you want to keep the strip close to a desk or entertainment unit without excess cable getting in the way. The design is simple and unobtrusive in black, so it blends in well with most setups. It’s easy to plug and unplug devices, and the spacing between outlets accommodates slightly larger plugs without blocking neighbouring sockets.Overall, this power strip is practical, reliable, and straightforward. It doesn’t come with any flashy features, but it does exactly what you need — keeps multiple devices powered safely. It’s a good choice if you want a dependable surge protector for everyday use at home or in the office.

This is one of the cheapest six-ways you’ll find, but crucially, it narrowly avoids feeling ‘too cheap’. There’s a reasonably sturdy weight to it, and it feels solidly-enough made to make me feel confident plugging some reasonably high voltage devices into it. There’s a little bit of a looseness to the big on-off switch, but the actual act of switching it on or off does have a clear chunky mechanical click to it, and the blue LED, while small, does give a clear-enough indication of whether it’s on or not.But although six sockets might seem like “bonus 50% extra” compared to the average four-way, this power strip sits at the bottom of the class when it comes to features. The six individual sockets are quite close together- just about spread enough for standard British three-pin plugs, but too close for some powerbricks, and definitely too close for most smartplugs for example. There are no individual switches, no USB sockets, and so on. This one’s “Basics” for a reason.Before you order, you might want to think- do I really want a power strip where the cord is only 61cm? Some other brands’ shortest options start at 1m cords. As well as a “four-way” I’d sometimes refer to this as an “extension lead”, but when the cord is barely more than half a metre, it’s not really much of an extension at all. If there’s a chance you might want to position this somewhere other than directly under the wall socket that it’s forking from, then you might want to consider getting a longer cable.Just over eight quid (at time of writing) for a six-way is good value, but this is definitely a ‘no frills’ budget option.

This is a good quality basic surge protector that I picked up to use in my hallway that currently only has two plugs – I need more plugs for my robovac’s charging station. my air purifier, and my new digital calendar. This offers six sockets which is more than enough, though no USB ports which is a tiny bit of a shame.The plug has a 13A fuse which is ideal considering what I will have plugged into it.The cable length is only 61cm which may be short for some, but for me, it’s ideal – this will sit close to the plug socket and this will not have any unnecessary slack that I’d have to somehow tuck behind cupboards.The 600 joules 3-line surge protection functionality is certainly good to have (I’m pretending I know what that means) and can hope this adds a level of protection that a standard plug socket would not provide.At just over a tenner at the time of writing, I think this is good value for money.

The thinkassemble.co.uk Basics extension lead is fairly basic in format, but functions perfectly. It is long and slim and able to accommodate 6 plugs, but no usb ports. There is a single switch on the block to turn al of the sockets on and of, an it also functions as a reset switch for the surge protection.It is very simple and sleek in design, but it does have a little weight bend it and it doesn’t feel cheap. With 6 sockets, there is plenty space there for plug things in, although it is worth noting the cable length on this is quite short.It is a good value basic extension code with surge protection.

The build feels sturdy and compact and they are spaced enough to have larger plugs next to each other.I like that it does not feel loose when plugs are inserted. The cord is short but it works fine for outlets near my desk.Knowing it is serge protected gives me some peace of mind. There is nothing fancy about it but it does the job I need every day. Works well and affordable. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a simple and reliable power strip.
