Having owned Fitbit fitness trackers for over 10 years and my current Charge 5 battery starting to fail some 2 months out of warranty plus Google’s strategy of moving everything to a Google watch that has a 24hr battery, I decided enough was enough and looked for alternatives.I don’t need a fancy smart watch but wanted a little more than a fitness and sleep tracker. Price was important, I didn’t want to pay £350 for a watch and the Amazfit Active 2 smart watch came up at a perfect price with features that sounded good so I bought one.First of all I thought Amazfit was an thinkassemble.co.uk product and I am sure the marketing dept knew this when they thought up the name but Amazfit is nothing to do with thinkassemble.co.uk. Amazit is owned by Zepp Health Inc although Xiaomi does have some investment in the company. Amazfit is not a small company so don’t be put off by the name.What is the Active 2 smart watch like? Well the strap that came with the watch made my wrist come out in sores but apart from the Fitbit one, every silicon watch strap has done this and I do like to get the straps that have a magnetic fastener so I was always going to change it. Good news is the straps use a standard so there are multiple sellers offering them.In use the watch has a lot of options from displayng the time to step count, date, heart rate, minutes active, weather, blood oxygen value, amount of sleep, etc. The watch allows customisation of the display and there are many free watch face designs + other paid for options.There are so many options on this watch that it will take you days to work out where they all.The watch can play MP3s, be used to answer calls and can act as a payment method as long as your bank supports it.If you want an activity route tracker, the watch has GPS tracking built in, just start an activity and the watch will record where you have been, I do this to track my dog walk routes. When you end your GPS tracking the watch provides details of the journey and talks through the results.Battery life is good and I get a week of usage, a little less if I use the GPS tracking feature. To charge the watch you get a small ‘puck’ that connects with a USB-C interface to a charger (not supplied). The puck is magnetic and will only fit on one way. The puck is small and could easily be mislaid so I keep mine connected to a cable all the time.The Amazfit is supported by an app for your mobile, the app is called Zepp. It displays all the data the watch has recorded plus historical data like sleep patterns, heart rate average, etc. there is just so much data it would be impossible to list it all here.Would I buy one again? Absolutely.

Aboslute gem of a smart fitness watch . Compared to named brands this offers multiple readings, measurements and charts for exercise, breathing, sleep to heart bpm . Tagged with the zepp app to view the results is detailed. Watch easy to use, light on your wrist and so far no sweat build up . Great for the value . 4 not 5 star because it does feel a tad flimsy but only a tad and it’s too early for me to see repetitive accurate readings.. GPS is very good

Excellent bit of kit – having had previously a Tom Tom and a Garmin this leaves them in the shade ! Simple, versatile, comfortable and great value for money.So far I’ve tracked treadmill, step training, outdoor walking and some circuit training. All synced to Strava and cannot tell you how happy I am with it. Loads of sports / choice – a watch for the modern day and easy to charge as well ! 10/10 !

Absolut empfehlenswert – Umstieg hat sich gelohnt!Ich habe die Uhr jetzt seit ein paar Tagen und bin wirklich happy. Ich hatte ja schon das Vorgängermodell, also die normale Version ohne Saphirglas. Mit der war ich auch schon super zufrieden, da gab es wirklich nichts auszusetzen. Die hat alles gemacht, was sie sollte und war immer zuverlässig. Der Akku hielt lange und die Messungen waren auch immer genau.Der einzige Grund, warum ich mir jetzt die neue geholt habe, war die Bezahlfunktion. Ich wollte einfach gerne mit meiner Uhr bezahlen können, das ist so praktisch. Und was soll ich sagen? Das Bezahlen mit Zepp Pay klappt einwandfrei! Ich habe meine Bankkarte ganz einfach in der Zepp App hinzugefügt. Das Einrichten ging total schnell und war unkompliziert. An der Kasse halte ich jetzt einfach meine Uhr ans Terminal, und zack – bezahlt. Das ist so viel bequemer, als immer das Portemonnaie oder Handy rauszukramen. Ich bin echt begeistert, wie einfach das geht.Die neue Version hier hat ja auch das Saphirglas, das fühlt sich schon sehr hochwertig an und ich hoffe, es ist so kratzfest, wie es verspricht. Das Display ist auch richtig klasse, schön hell und auch in der Sonne gut zu lesen. Das Lederarmband sieht sehr schick aus, und für den Sport ist ja netterweise noch ein Silikonband dabei, das werde ich dann auch nutzen. Die ganzen Sportmodi und das GPS funktionieren wie gewohnt sehr gut. Auch die Herzfrequenzmessung und Schlafüberwachung sind für mich wieder sehr genau und hilfreich. Die Zepp App ist auch immer noch kostenlos und einfach zu bedienen, da finde ich alle meine Daten übersichtlich. Für mich hat sich der Umstieg wegen der Bezahlfunktion absolut gelohnt und ich kann die Uhr wirklich nur jedem empfehlen!

I bought this mainly for running and gym use, but it’s worked out well as an everyday watch too. The screen is clear and easy to read outdoors, and the strap is comfortable even during longer workouts. GPS connects quickly and stays accurate, which is useful when tracking distance. The battery life is strong—I usually get over a week without charging. Sleep tracking and heart rate monitoring seem accurate and consistent, which makes it easy to keep an eye on progress. Overall, it’s straightforward to use, dependable, watch can be used for free or a paid version of the app for extra features but not necessary for day to day use.

For a long time, I wanted a Samsung Galaxy watch, but always felt they were way too expensive. Sometime ago I bought a cheap smart watch just to see how I would get on; it wasn’t great some bits didn’t work, but it convinced me to keep looking. The reviews for the Amazfit 2 were very good, at first, I was suspicious, nothing could be that good! But, just over two weeks ago I bought one. The reviews were right, it’s brilliant. What surprised me a little is how beautifully slim and light it is, it’s a really good-looking watch. There are more features than I can shake a stick at and the Zepp app is good, at my age I’m unlikely to use many of the workout functions, but I can say the walking one works very well.I have one minor issue, I never thought my wrists were particularly big, but I was right on the last hole with the supplied strap, so I replaced it.If you are looking for a smart watch then think seriously about this one, over two weeks in, only just charged the battery. 😊

I love this watch. I’m new to the smart watch world. I needed something that could alert me to who is calling me or messages while I’m working without getting out my phone. This does that, it also monitors my sleep, exercise, periods, and many other things with the various apps it offers. The battery is good, with my usage it lasts over a week, using roughly 10% a day which is far better than the fitbit I used to have. I’m still getting to grips with the apps it has and utilising them. The screen is a good size and you can change the watch face.The only downside I had is that Google maps was driving me nuts alerting me to every road I took and every little bit of distance covered (I drive lots for my job) so the only fix I could find was to turn the notifications off for it.
