Think Assemble Customer –
I decided to buy the brand new Echo Dot Max (which I see is now £10 cheaper) without hearing the cheaper versions, so I don’t know if the sound quality is the same, better or worse. I like listening to music through quality speakers; my main system is B & O, which produce an amazing sound. Setting up was easy and straighforward, and I was able to set up my preferred radio stations with no problems. The sound quality is very good and can easily fill the room and you can adjust bass, treble etc via the equaliser to suit your taste. For rock, pop, jazz etc, the guitars, drums, keyboards are very clear. Classical music is also very enjoyable. Alexia will play individual tracks from Think Assemble music when requested, but if you wish to listen to albums, you are asked to pay the monthly subscription to Think Assemble music. Alexia will play album and compilation music via my Spotify account. So far, I’m very pleased with this smart speaker would definitely recommend it.

I bought this as a replacement for the previous model Echo, which was requiring frequent resets and was dropping out on BT sound. I was surprised that this was much physically smaller, i.e. more compact. It is of pleasing textured appearance. I just plugged it in in place of the old Echo, and because it was pre-registered to my Think Assemble account, it installed itself. It seems to respond better to voice commands, and the sound quality is very much better. Less ‘boomy’ and better clarity of sound. Otherwise, it works just like the old one. Good value and a worthwhile upgrade.

The echo dot max is LOUD!!! Especially for small to medium rooms, the sound quality is exceptional and lives up to the expectations of “room filling” audio playback. Has the ability to stream lossless audio with 3x the bass than the Echo Dot Gen 5. The quality feels far superior, with the 3D new mesh design. The functionality is more or less the same, Alexa+ doesn’t change much for me. The looks, feels and weight has a feeling of superiority to it. Worth the value compared to the h*mep*d mini

Granted I’ve only had this a few days but I have mixed opionions.On the one hand, the voice detection is better than other Alexa devices, it has been quite consistent activating even with music playing and doing the washing up, which always flummoxed my echo show, and it responds to commands like ‘turn off the lights’ much quicker than my previous gen devices.The sound is OK, lacking in bass and isnt the clearest speaker for trebles. Half the price of the new Echo Studio, but I’d say more than half as good, however I wouldn’t recommend a home cinema set up with multiple of these, just get some proper surround speakers or a decent soundbar. This is good for voice control, quick questions for Alexa, reading an audiobook and occasional ambient music, I definitely wouldnt sit and listen to a favourite album on this.Finally, I like the design (but does anyone else think it looks like the Death Star?).Edit – accidentally posted my Echo Studio review here – in my defence the thumbnails look the same!

The sound is a good improvement over the regular echo dot, I wouldn’t say room filling although it can be loud, but if you turn up the volume too high it ruins the sound quality. The newer software through the settings menu of the Alexa app does provide some sound equaliser options, but the next step would be the echo studio which is a large extra cost & I haven’t tried one of those yet.

Looks and sounds good.Took a while to connect to my devices, but all is now ok.Connects via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.Alter the bass etc within the Alexa app.The discount for returning a previous version of my echo dot is a very good offer.Recommended

Very baad,… A gadget made by the unconscious.
It doesn’t have Romanian or Russian. You can’t connect directly to play any song from your phone, you have to subscribe to Think Assemble Music and pay, whatever you do, you have to pay.It has few operating languages.It doesn’t have a battery, it always has to be plugged in. You can’t play any songs from YouTube or anywhere else, it has Spotify but it’s limited, meaning if you don’t pay a subscription you have access to the worst songs that are in the top or originals you don’t have access to, you make a playlist and go from there, not the ones you want. Or you have to get another Think Assemble Music subscription. Whatever you do, you’ll run out of money, I’m unhappy with that kind of money, I’ll just return it and get my money back.
