Product Description

Product Overview

Unlock the potential of wearable technology and advanced robotics with the Adafruit Industries 1361 Conductive Sheet. This premium pressure-sensitive material, commonly known as Velostat or Linqstat, is the ultimate cost-effective solution for DIY engineers, hobbyists, and professional developers looking to create custom flexible sensors. Engineered to respond to physical interaction, this smart material reduces its electrical resistance as pressure is applied, allowing you to map touch, squeeze, and bend with precision. Whether you are building interactive LED clothing, innovative musical instruments, or responsive robotic grips, this large 11″ x 11″ sheet provides a versatile foundation for any project that requires a “sense of touch.” Lightweight, durable, and highly adaptive, it offers a professional-grade alternative to expensive pre-made sensors, giving you the freedom to cut, shape, and integrate tactile feedback into your designs with ease.

Key Features

  • Dynamic Pressure Sensitivity: Perfectly transitions from high to low resistance when squeezed, making it ideal for creating custom, flexible touch and bend sensors.
  • Generous Working Area: Each order includes a large 11″ x 11″ (280mm x 280mm) sheet, providing ample material for multiple small projects or large-scale prototypes.
  • Ultra-Thin & Flexible: At just 4 mil (0.1mm) thick, this material integrates seamlessly into wearables and compact electronics without adding bulk.
  • Industrial Temperature Range: Reliable performance in extreme conditions, with temperature limits ranging from -45°C to 65°C (-50°F to 150°F).
  • Highly Conductive Surface: Features a volume resistivity of <500 ohm-cm and surface resistivity of <31,000 ohms/sq.cm for consistent signal response.
  • Heat Sealable: Can be easily sealed for protection or integrated into layered fabric and plastic assemblies.

Important Information

  • Shipping Note: To ensure efficient delivery, sheets may be folded into quarters; any hard creases can be easily removed by laying the sheet flat under a heavy object.
  • Connectivity: Best used with conductive tape, thread, or fabric to create reliable contact points for your microcontroller or sensor interface.
  • Versatile Compatibility: Designed for use with MCU and sensor evaluation boards, cameras, microphones, and robotics kits.
  • Physical Properties: Weighs approximately 18.66g, ensuring it won’t impact the weight or drape of wearable electronics.

Excellent product! I was able to carry out my electronics project with it to make a pressure sensor successfully

I was not expecting much out of this seemingly bland sheet, but it has far exceeded my expectations. To get suitable readings out of it is very simple, clamp on to it to make a connection and you can imagine it just as a resistor that has a fluctuating resistance. This means that if you make a very basic potential divider circuit, feeding 5volts in, having roughly an equal value resistor in series to it, the voltage you can read from between the two is your sensor “data” which is solely dependant on the state of the sheet. To test this, i fed that resulting signal into the analogue pin of an arduino and had it plot the value against time. What came out was a steady line, then as i tapped the sheet, a spike in the reading. After further testing i found that you can indeed cut the material up into any shape and size, and that if you stretch it, you can even make it more sensitive. So much so that with some simple coding to amplify the signal (i did make an op amp amplifier to boost the signal, but it turned out i didnt really need it, the output from the sheet was a defined enough signal), i was able to capture fluctuations in air waves. I.e. It was able to work as a microphone. So yes, colour me impressed. This is a wonderful surprise in the world of sensors, so simple, yet so versitile.

Very sensitive to touch, the resistance lowers when squeezed, perfect for touch pressure sensors or robot fingertips.

  4. Martin

Everything is OK with product. Well packed. Folded for some reason, but this not compromise functionality.

  5. Aurora

    Good quality and very useful

  6. Average User

    Works great
    Good material. Works as intended.

  7. Joe Borkowski

    Perfect
This is a nice, thin conductive sheet that I used to replace the sensors under the panels on my Dance Dance Revolution pad. I didn’t know if it would work, but it worked perfectly. I just stretched the material, one sheet covers all 4 panels, and it doesn’t wear down like the aluminum tape that came with the pad. Hopefully it lasts at least a year (or more?:-)) under heavy foot stomping; so far so good.

  8. Christopher Martinelli

    Legit
Cuts easy and doesn’t make a mess, it worked for my pressure switch

  9. frances e myers

Material gets stretched out quick, but it worked as expected for the application
I used this material to make a force resistance sensor with the Velostat being the variable resistive material. It worked well, but when i pressed hard on the material, the voltage levels I received were much different. This is good for basic prototyping, but I don’t think it would work on any large scale application – at least not consistently.

    I thought I would get more !
    Too small 🙁
