Brilliant wee clock radio and sound d is very clear well pleased.

It’s pretty good. Easy to set and use. Do find the radio a bit tinny and you have to fiddle with the aerial regularly to get a consistent signal and also a person next to it affects the signal. But that may just be our house (and my husband next to it!).

I’m normally a “buy the big brand” type of person, and needless to say, I’ve had Pure and Roberts DAB clock and regular radios.Nothing fit the bill this time as I had specific requirements that were met with this unit, see below:1. It needed to go dark on the display, the fact that it has 5 different brightness levels one might think that it’s too many, but no. it just helps to find the right one, after all, once you’ve got what you want, you’re unlikely to change it aren’t you? They may seem bright, but I use a flagship Samsung phone to take pictures and it makes the dark look like daylight. If you look at the last one on my partner’s nightstand, you’ll see it approximately twice as bright in the photo than it normally is.In fact on lowest setting it’s hardly visible at all in daylight.I needed plenty of brightness levels as my partner sleeps with the curtains, with blackout material, shut all the time, so brightness, or darkness, was an issue.2. It needed to be shut off immediately and easily when the alarm goes off-not a snooze situation, just OFF.This is achieved by pressing the middle button on the front on the top of the unit.It can be “snoozed” if you want, but our requirement was to be able to turn off the alarm without it coming on again and risking waking my partner up again. This may seem like an easy thing to do, but after extensive research I’ve found that there is no documentation referring to this, they all say they can be snoozed but this one I know for a fact can have the alarm stopped with just one press. Now that in itself is made easier by the fact that the “off” button is conveniently located in the middle of the three buttons on the top of the unit, at the front. This means that it can be found in the dark without having to turn the light on.I’ve seen plenty others where the “off” button is located amongst others at the back.Besides, they don’t document that the action of switching off the alarm definitevely with one button press-I can assert that this is the case here.3. DAB reception, excellent. Some of the clock radios have such patchy reception on DAB that I’ve had to resort to using FMAllied to this, is the sound quality, my partner likes listening to the radio whilst doing cleaning etc upstairs, and this is very good in that respect, achieving a decent volume without distortion.4. There are two alarms, so one can be set for weekends, one for weekdays and are easy to switch between the two so I’m not having to reprogramme a single one depending on day in the week.5. The ability to charge something like a phone from the clock radio itself-great idea for those that keep their mobile on the nightstand like we do.6. Lastly, a minor point, but one that I’m happy about. It’s that it uses a standardised round pin power supply that should the original one fail, are easy to replace here on Think Assemble for example. Some of the clock radios have the power cable wired directly into the unit itself, so once the power supply goes wrong inside the unit, it’s bin time. All in all, I’m surprised as to how good it is.UPDATE:A lot of reviews are really just prolonged “unboxings”, but I like to give a long term appraisal, to that end:Over a year later and still going strong. Deffo worth the money.

Really good analogue radio, nice long snooze bar 🤣 great dimmable display so it’s not too bright in the middle of the night, easy to set. Worth every penny, very happy.

  5. Vinnie

To start with the positives, this radio has one of the best user interfaces I’ve seen for a radio. There are a fair amount of buttons and not a lot of presses to get to where you want to get to.The display is pretty nice and is clear without too much information cluttering up the screen. What lets it down is the sound quality.Through its speakers, it’s fairly tinny, but that’s probably to be expected for a radio its size.Unfortunately, it doesn’t cope much better with headphones. It severely lacks bass and the audio resolution doesn’t seem particularly full. The biggest problem I’ve found is that there is no stereo whatsoever when listening to a DAB+ station.I would say this is a design fault, as through headphones, it plays stereo perfectly fine (where available) on a standard DAB station.Compare Heart London (DAB) with Heart UK (DAB+) and Smooth London (DAB) with Smooth UK (DAB+) and the difference is clear. DAB+ just comes out mono. I’ve tried with a different cable up to a stereo system in case it was incompatible with my cans/lead, but no, same.Bluetooth is a convenient feature, but the audio is far too low. Tested using my Samsung Galaxy phone. It’s fine as a bathroom radio, but its compact size ought to make it ideal for travelling as well. Sadly, it’s let down by the sound quality.

This item is small but very good I do love it especially as I bought it to be able to listen to Premier christian radio and it’s really very clear. I’m not easily pleased, but I’m pleased with this radio. Thanks. God bless you always 🙏

  7. Kindle Customer

Very pleased with this item. A lot smaller than my old one. The sound id very good, the brightness can be dimmed and it looks good.

  8. John Colvin

I’m pleased with the sound: surprisingly good, seeing that the radio is small. The one disappointment is the operation of the presets. Despite several attempts I’ve succeeded in setting only one of my desired stations. I’m sure I’m following the instructions, but the radio just isn’t doing what it should. It’s only because I’m content to stay tuned to radio 4 that I haven’t returned the radio because, in my view, it doesn’t provide the preset service advertised.

Vorsicht!

  10. Anthony Booster Bools

    Cheap and nasty
Very hard to program, stations hard to find. Couldn’t set different times for weekends/weekdays. Meh.
