The Petface Catnip (Catkins by Petface) is a fantastic product that my cat absolutely loves! As soon as I opened the package, my cat was immediately drawn to it and started rolling around with excitement. The natural wild catnip seems to be of great quality, and it really does drive my cat wild in the best way.I love that it comes in a 15g package, which is the perfect amount to sprinkle on toys, scratching posts, or even just the floor for my cat to enjoy. It’s potent enough that a little goes a long way, and it keeps my cat entertained for hours.Overall, this catnip is great value for money, and it’s clear that Petface knows what they’re doing when it comes to making cats happy. Personally, I don’t see the fascination of the stuff but my cat NORMALLY loves catnip. I love to watch her going crazy for catnip, she’s a fat, lazy cat but she will jump through hoops to get to get to normal catnip – not with this stuff.I must say, I’ve never seen catnip as fine as this. It’s been ground down to an extremely fine dust, as thin or thinner than icing sugar. It’s very dry compared to catnip & isn’t the usual texture, colour, smell or feel as catnip.This powder is very light brown, yet dried catnip has normally got a slight tint of green running through it, looking more like a herb. It usually has a scent with hint of mint to it, but this dry, wood type dust doesn’t have any particular scent, it certainly doesn’t smell of catnip & my cat agrees.My pusscat usually plays for hours once the catnip is out & you can tell when she’s high & stoned from the effects.This so called catnip doesn’t affect her in any way & she shows absolutely no interested in this dust at all. Her interest is usually spiked as soon as I open the tin with the bag in, (store it like this to keep it as potent as possible). She’d usually be up like a meercat trying to get to my hands before I’ve even put any down. Then she’d lick it, roll in it & play with any toys that are filled with it for hours.:^++I don’t know what it’s been mixed with or why it’s as ground down to a powder form like it is, whatever it is, my cat certainly isn’t impressed. I’d go as far as saying this woody type dust isn’t catnip, she isn’t interest in the stuff as she usually would be with actual catnipis.I buy it mainly to put in her soft toys made for filling with catnip which she usually loves.I usually put a small amount on the floor for her to lick & roll in & then I fill 2 or 3 of her toys with it for her to play with.With this brand, she licked some of it up but it was as though she couldn’t smell it through her toys. She doesn’t touch them unless they’ve got her catnip in them & usually she’ll play & throw her toys around & she tries to open the velcro to get to more catnip & eat more.It seems I’m not the only one who wasn’t impressed with this brand, she doesn’t bother with her toys any of the times I’ve emptied the old stuff out & put new in. I don’t get it!I also don’t like that it comes in a stapled bag which isn’t sealed airtight, plus you can’t reseal the bag. I’ve moved it into a different container but I think it might be a tad too late, that’s if it was any good in the first place.UPDATE: It’s gone in the bin as my cat really isn’t interest at all!
